Maybe those are just bad pictures..but the first one looks like she has the potential to look really hot.

I look at their features, and then dress them up in my mind...because I know photos don't always do justice.

You're right. I just watched them on film. A lot of them are really good-looking:

reminds me of this gorgeous guy in my class...When I saw his facebook photos, he looked so average...but he is stunning in person.

Those girls do look better on screen.

I watched the miss India pageant on tv last night. I must say the finalists have really nice personalities. They look thousands of times better on tv than in these pictures. Sangeeta Bora and Sujata Das from Assam they are beautiful and have something exotic about their faces. Reminds me of last years contestant Akuonuo from Nagaland state. The girl I really liked was Sangeeta Chauhan, nothing in this world can match her smile.

Don't worry, you can also comment on the looks of these girls. The sarees were designed by Jashn Sarees. Actually the girls were given 1970s look in that event. I suppose, those kind of Saree designs were popular way back in the 70s period.

I don't like the winners. The Rajasthani should have won.

I see, thanks for info. By the way i have no idea that Indian women wore like that back in 70's hehe.

Nope the girls look good.. actually we should always remember that we wear clothes, not clothes wear us. They would have looked much better if they had dressed up with some other designs... biggthumpup.gif

You're welcome. I also have not much idea about 70s fashion. I read somewhere that they had that 1970s theme.

Har$hita surrenders Miss India Earth crown

Rohit Khilnani / CNN-IBN

Published on Sat, Apr 12, 2008 at 02:42, Updated at Sat, Apr 12, 2008 in Entertainment section

Mumbai: Har$hita Saxena is no longer the new Femina Miss India Earth all because her contract with Gladrags overlapped with that of the Miss India pageant by three days.

In a press statement Har$hita said: "I apologise to the officials of Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2008 and voluntarily surrender the title of Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth 2008. It was an oversight on my part"

Just days after the new Miss India winners were announced, President Gladrags Beauty Pageants, Maureen Wadia claimed that the newly crowned Miss India Earth was still on contract with the Gladrags, which bars her from taking part in any other beauty pageant.

According to sources, though Har$hita's contract with Gladrags started on March 13 2006 and was valid for two years, there was a clause which said that the contract would commence on the day of the event being staged -- which was April 8 2006.

Hence technically her contract with Gladrags expired on April 8 2008 -- three days after the Miss India pageant.

Maureen Wadia says, "I feel sorry. It shouldn't have come to this stage. However, I feel it's extremely important that we honour the law and we live by the law."

Har$hita's crown has now been passed on to Tanvi Vyas of Vadodra, who becomes the new Miss India Earth.

Oversight or just plain bad luck, it's a lesson learnt. Har$hita was quick to advise other models and beauty pageant participants to double check their contracts to avoid such unpleasant controversies.

Har$hita Saxena dethroned, Tanvi Vyas is new Miss India Earth

Zeenews Bureau

Mumbai, April 11: Har$hita Saxena on Friday surrendered her Miss India Earth title, paving way for Tanvi Vyas, who has been crowned the new Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth 2008. Tanvi will now be representing India in the pageant internationally.

Har$hita, who was the third runner-up at the Miss India event held last week, has given up her pageant in view of the allegations raised by Gladrags officials.

At a press conference in Mumbai, President of Gladrags Beauty Pageants, Maureen Wadia, said that Har$hita is a model from her company and is presently in a contract with them.

Maureen claimed that Har$hita had no authority to participate in any other beauty contest, without permission.

Threatening a legal action against the model, Maureen said, "She was a part of my Megamodel Contract in April 2006, which has not expired as yet. The contract statement strictly restricts the models from taking part in such a contest, without permission".

None of them stand out to me either.

India used to be a pageant power house. What happened? Now the Indian representatives just to manage to make it the Top 10 in Miss Universe. shrug.gif

What about Puja Gupta? In my opinion, she was one of the most attractive contestants at last year's Miss Universe.

I don't like the winners. The Rajasthani should have won.

Whom you're referring to? There was only one contestant from Rajasthan her name is Nupur Sharma. But she had to withdraw from the finals due to slipped disk, so she was not even competing. This is her photo

But Simran has the advantage of height which Puja Gupta lacked. But let's see what happens.

If she is interested in competing next year, she has to go through the whole selection process once again. It is very difficult.
