Just want to know what everyone here read and listen? Which is your favorite? Which of them you value highly? Which of them lowly?

For newspaper, I read:
  • The New Straits Times ---> Biased, but seems to get their news very fast.
  • Sin Chew Jit Poh ---> Occasionally becomes very biased. Otherwise, their news is pretty entertaining.
  • Nan Yang Siang Pau ---> Not as biased as Sin Chew, but not really an exciting newspaper to read.
  • Utusan Malaysia ---> The worst and most biased Malaysian newspaper. But it is worth reading so you know what happen in the Malay world.
  • Berita Harian ---> Better than Utusan, less biased compare to Utusan in my opinion, but their website is so slow and their news seems to be a bit slow too.
  • Malaysiakini ---> My favorite. Cover everything, together with Malaysia Insider, they are the least biased newspaper in Malaysia, I love their multi-language feature which truly represents what Malaysia is.
  • Malaysia Insider ---> My favorite too. See above.
  • Merdeka Review ---> Another less biased online newspaper, unfortunately, it is all political news.
  • New York Times ---> I love this newspaper, cover a lot of international and local news, a MUST if you live in the USA.
  • China Times ---> Occasionally will read this paper to see what is happening in Taiwan.
  • Le Monde ---> This is properly the best newspaper to read if you want to know what is happening on the Europe continent. They have very good African coverage which most English papers don't have. I love their layout, very professional. Their articles are very in depth like the New York Times.
  • Yomiuri Shinbun ---> Will read occasionally, just to see what happened in Japan, together with Asahi, Japanese newspaper often report weird news that you don't get to see in western or Malaysian paper. Sometimes can be very entertaining.
  • Asahi Shinbun --->As above.
  • People Daily (China) ---> Communist Newspaper, the most biased newspaper among all the newspapers I read. You cannot believe everything you read in this paper. You have to question everything you read and must think twice. Most of the news are junk.
  • Yahoo News! ---> This is the default webpage of my browser. It always give me a glance of what happen around the whole world everyday.
For Online TV news:
  • ABC (American Broadcasting Company) News ---> My favorite news channel, I watch it everyday, too bad, no Malaysian news.
  • TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) Online ---> I enjoy watching their weird news, it is so entertaining.
  • Youtube ---> This is the only place I can find Malaysian news clip.
I spend 2-3 hours a day reading news, what about you?

When I'm in Malaysia The Sun, in Singapore the Straits Times. I feel sad that the standard of commercial journalism in Australia has deteriorated sometimes not much better then a "womans magazine" more concered about what Posh Spice is doing rather then the news of the world. The ABC and SBS in Australia and the Age is good. Otherwise I get much of my news info form this forum, I find that its more detailed then the news I get in Australia.

I like Singapore Straits Times too, though very biased sometime, the news quality in general is very high. Unfortunately, they charge for the online version, which I think is a bad idea, as I wouldn't subscribe it.

I agree, but then we need to remember that the Straits Times is essentially a govnt newspaper, therefore it will never be critical of the Singaporean govnt. The same can be said of The Straits Times in Malaysia and Berita Harian. I think this is sad, journalism should be independent, having said that journalists can also be ireesponsible in their reporting but I do feel a country suffers when there isn't an independent news source.

Which is why I read so many newspapers, it helps me to get a better view overall. No newspaper is perfect, but the combined information you gathered from multiple resources can be very accurate and non-biased.

Newspapers (hard copy) that I read:
  • The Star --> Nearly everyday to catch up on the daily news. Quite biased.
  • Asian Wallstreet Journal --> To find out about the global economy. Love the News In Depth.
  • The Edge Daily --> When I have the time to read it.
  • The Edge --> Also when I have the time to read it.
  • The New Straits Time --> If I come home early, I'll read the headlines.
  • The Sun --> Everyday when I leave the LRT station.

Would like to read The Malaysia Reserve. Heard it is pretty good.

Online news that I read:
  • CNN Money --> In my mailbox daily
  • Malaysia-Today --> <3 Raja Petra
  • Singapore Business Times --> Occasionally

Used to read Newsweek until my subscription ended. bawling.gif Don't know if you count magazines as well.. then there are a few more.

TV news:
  • Al-Jazeera
  • CNBC
  • Bloomberg --> Bernard Lo. biggthumpup.gif

At times CNN, BBC, Bernama TV.

My favourite.. I think would be Asian Wallstreet Journal. embarassedlaugh.gif At times, I like the columnist in the Sun..

I sometimes think that I have information overload.

I think most articles present facts and also the journalists own opinion, you just need to sort out which is which.

I have to admit I have only watched Al Jazeera a handful of times and found their journalism to a very high standard, often better then CNN and BBC, more impartial and less influenced by the journalists own feelings. It will be interesting to see in which way they progress in the next few years. I hope their standard of journalism continues though.

Newspaper
-Sin Chew Daily(The first thing I do every morning is spending at least one to two hours reading it.Even before I changed to my afternoon shift,I read it at my workplace every morning lol )
-See Hua Daily News and Lian He
-The Star (only buy it on Sunday now) I do wish I have more time for English newspapers

Magazines(mostly read them at the library.I spent most my free time in two different libraries)
-Hao Wai Zhou Bao
-Feminine
-Newsweek
-Time
-Dewan Masyarakat
and a few fashion magazines which I am too ashamed to name them each

Stop reading Malay newspapers after my STPM.Too many materials to pick from and read
And don't watch any TV news
Read online articles here and there.

Made an amendment to my original post, not Malaysia Today, it is Malaysia Insider.

For newspapers,
-The Star, NST, TheSun, Daily Express (Sabah), once in while Utusan or Berita Harian
-Off The Edge is a nice magazine, monthly, sometimes Aliran, Newsweek, Time, etc

For online or TV,
-Malaysia Today, Malaysiakini, mainly Malaysia stuff
-Awani (astro 501) seems to have interesting news and shows about Malaysia, Bernama TV news seems less biased than Tv3 or RTM.
