Most Asians, from my experience, think Philippines is similar to Macau.

Im not certain about this but many say the philippines before WWII and after WWII till early 70's was 2nd best only to japan in asia, our military and economy were far superior than any of our neighbors. I just don't know what made us stagnant and move backwards, now most of our neighbors have already surpassed us.

manila was a big industrial city almost equal to tokyo before the war started, the Japanese bombed manila very hard they don't want this city to keep up with them.

How about the Marcos years? I would argue that when other countries were progressing leaps and bounds, our country progressed only very slowly.

Now, history is very uh, not black and white. Marcos did a lot of great things, had plenty of vision and drive. The problem lies with the corruption of his government, fraudulent elections, business cronies that monopolize the industry, unfair and unwise patronage, political assignations, military tribunals, suspension of habeas corpus, suspension of the rights of the people, embezzlement... ect ect. Not to mention incompetence in administration, and mishandling of public finance.

Of course, its happening still, the corruption in the Philippines is still at an all time high, but it's not as blatant as before.

Our problem mainly lies within the people and sometimes the people itself got no choice all elected officials are totaly garbage u get to choose between a basketball player, actor, actress, tv host, news reporter, boxer cadidates that are almost entirely incompetent. And our are people easily carried away and fooled you can see that in rallies, our politicians are the one's mainly instigating and causing disorder instead of order they pay people to go rally and cause civil disorder and get they the money from government funds. Im not bashing the opposition beacause both sides do this.

Yep but even if voters are smart and wise, during elections our options are mostly all garbage so it would still make no difference.

even if the goverment goes down things will only get worst, the solution lies in education of the people specially the next generation. But the problem is how can we educate them our population is going out of control at an exponential rate. Our public schools are over crowded teachers unable to cope with the student population thus the quality of education is degrading.
Sometimes i begin to think that in order to save the country it is necessary to suspend individual liberties, like one child policy, legalize of abortion and use of contraceptives.

I don't think most Asians dislike Filipinos, because I'm Lao and most of the Filipinos I know are extremely nice and friendly.

after the war during the 50's to early 70's our neighbors look up on us we were very far ahead of them, now we are so far behind and they are kinda, oh! look at you now!... i sesne that in people specially in malaysia.

Most filipino work very hard to earn their money and saving their money it's wise for them not to immitate the lifestyle of the flamboyant american hip-hop culture it is nice to see a filipino not becoming wiggerized and not waste money on useless things and acting like a N*gga spending he have on useless jewelry and other flamboyant stuff trying to look like what he see on tv which is ridicolous.

I feel ya. And I understand when you said you weren't hating on all Pinoys. There are some stupid, low down mamma's boys out there that do make a bad image of Pinoy guys, but there are those that have goals in life or do make a living, not live with their parents anymore, independent and always treat their girlfriends. I'm Filipino and my few ex's were Filipina and still ended up in bad terms and is currently dating a Vietnamese lady, yet I would never dismiss the possibility of dating another Filipina if anything happens. Now that you mention it, the kinds of Pinoys that you've dated do make us look very bad, since I heard the same from other nationalities and tried my best to prove them wrong. .
