they are not really that special. my gf has one that is like $600, but the features on the thing pales in comparison to an iphone and has pretty much all the standard features the avg flip phone has. if u actually want one that has the newest technology, then be prepared to be @$$-raped by the cost.

I had a cellphone in japan for 3 years, and uhh, it wasn't that special really... They have the ones where you can watch TV on it now, but I don't know anything about it.. My service provider was Docomo, and I had a phone from Foma. I think Au has better phones and their service was better where I lived, but in Tokyo, docomo was definitely better, the service never cuts out. Hell I was able to make phone calls with my friends cell phone 7 decks down at the bottom of a ship.

Oh and you'd be wasting your money getting a phone you couldn't use... Its one thing to get the phone and put it to it's purpose, it's another to just get it to say you have a japanese cell phone, and it's really retarded..

To the OP: I have an iPhone but I ate it- if you want a good Japanese phone, the best thing you should do is to buy a dildo and draw the numerical pad on the shaft- when you make calls in public, make audible *DOOT DOOT BEEEP* sounds when you push the drawn smeared ink buttons; and dont forget to look around suspiciously like you\'re dealing drugs whilst you do it. Then SCREAM- thats right- SCREAM!!!!!! What you need to say....the person you indeed to talk to MIGHT be able to hear you.

The best reception for this phone is usually in heavily crowded places like trains, shopping malls or eldery homes.

yah I know, but the technology is stil fairly new. I don't keep up with cell phones, I rarely got to use mine when I was over there, most of the time was spent in the middle of the ocean fighting bad guys haha...
