One of the best ones I ever came across was installing irrigation. Because you spend all day out in the sun digging trenches and axing through stone and rock, it makes your back, in fact your whole body incredibly strong. Another good one might be a bicycle postie, although I haven't tried that, but if you could be a postie on a push bike in a hilly area, that would probably have some health benefits, and you can finish up your day as soon as all the mail is delivered.

Sorry. Australian slang for postman. He's the one who delivers your mail. Many of them thesedays ride those little Honda 110 motorcycles, but I've heard that it is possible to ask to return to the bicycle, if you know you can keep up the pace. It's not actually any slower when you consider the amount of time you're going to spend stopped at each mailbox in relation to the time you spend riding between stops. I believe that it is something that you have to ask for though, for the standard issue is now apparently the Hondas, which might still offer minor health benefits, but not on par with the tredley.

You mean the mailman right? I never see anybody ride those little honda motorcycles. icon_neutral.gif.

I love motorcycles, but I know I'd always opt for the pushie if given the choice. Does everyone where you live ride bicycles too? Which country do you live in? I'm in Australia.

Any job working in company with more than 10 people should have health insurance coverage. Jobs in telecommunications, insurance, accounting, IT, public relations, government.

Those jobs sound like for people in their 25's and 30's. How about jobs that give health or dental benefits for a college student?

Temp agencies give you health benefits, although they usually are not thatttt great. But it's better than nothing right?

Not where I come from, although we do use vans for bulk deliveries, but driving a truck will only give you a beer-gut. Most of the posties here, the ones I'm thinking of, ride either a little Honda between mailboxes, or else a big old red tredley with special heavy-duty 28" wheels. That's how you can get health benefits from your job. Not so much the weight of the full bags in the morning when you start your run, for that's why God invented the wheel, but the fact that you're constantly exercising all day, throughout the run. That's the major health benefit.

I'd still rather dig trenches all day if I need to get super-fit.

Would being an intern work?

What's the difference between mailman and postie? Don't mailman get health or dental benefits?

Do you remember that movie with Kevin Costner? I thought postie was a fairly universal code. Anyway, riding a horse to deliver the mail might be good for the leg muscles, maybe, but I think the bicycle would have it in the general somatic health stakes. Especially when you've got a heavy mailbag to deliver. That's when you get into that kind of four legged cadence on the bike to actually hold on with your arms to stop the legs from throwing you up in the air. I used to call it the aardvark posture, but that was only because I couldn't be bothered going through the whole alphabet to think up a better name.

Can't really think of anything that offers dental benefits. Cloves are said to be good for your teeth, so maybe working as a packer in a clove factory would have its advantages. Cloves also cause asthma to some people though, so that might offset the benefit.

I heard banks have some of the best health benefits, and PT jobs at banks guarantee benefits..I think.

Just about any FT job will give health benefits. The only problem is the quality though..some jobs have crappy insurance.
