Congratulations on your decision. My brother is also in the Navy and made it all the way to Master Chief. You'll see the world for free and learn things that you'll never get to experience in a university or at a nine to five job.

I know you'll do well coz you're open minded and well rounded, i don't think you'll get tempted or influenced into doing stupid things by d!cks, pussies and assholes.

Be tough and you'll go far. beerchug.gif

go 4 it biggthumpup.gif You get a chance to see places, meet life long friends, do something patriotic, be physically fit, mentally disciplined, make money, and you don't get into debt for college.

Good luck in the navy. they already got me hahaha. if you have questions about what to expect, i could probably help you out. me= HM3. when do you head out to bootcamp? chicago's cold in the winter and hot/ humid in the summer. weird weather out there.

Man have fun in the Navy.
Where are you going to be shipped out to?
philippines
What job did you sign up for? Be careful because I know that they sign recruits for jobs like nuclear engineering, or more commonly Navy seals or UDTs only to revoke it later on due to some technicality. I was in boot camp almost ten years ago and I met some recruits who signed up for the Seal team only to be reassigned because they were "colorblind". But overall it is a good experience. Hoorah shipmate! icon_smile.gif

Other things I remember:

"Attention on deck!!!"
"Good afternoon petty officer, seaman recruit (last name) division 5-0-0, compartment watch, standing by for further instructions petty officer!!!"
"Heel to toe!!"
"Turnstile we have another division!!!"
"Wheat-bread for the shipmate!"
"You are wrong shipmate!"
"Please maintain my brightworks shipmate!!"

I'll post more when I remember them lol

I'm an HM as well. I might wanna be a Devil Doc for a while. It's a good practice for Med school, if I decide to go.

Because I speak Visayan, which is a muslim based language according to one of the recruiters, the Navy might pay me more money. About $200 - $400 a month. That's so lucky. I just need to pass a verbal and writing test.

They also pay more if you speak Chinese, Arabic, Korean, and many others, I need to look at the list. I think I'm gonna learn Chinese or Arabic. I just learned that today because I went to a different recruitment center near UNLV (Univeristy of Nevada, Las Vegas), it shocked me that the majority of the recruiters were Filipinos and Hawaiian. It's probably because that side of Las Vegas has tons of Filipinos.
That's when they told me Visayan is one of the languages they're looking for, since some of people America is fighting against in the War on Terror, speak Visayan in Mindanao. nice.

Bisayan a "muslim" based language? Maybe related to Maguindanao or Maranao, but no such thing as a "muslim" based language. Since you're going into the military and we still have the anti-terrorism fight going on, my suggestion is for you to study Arabic, then maybe Chinese later since it's also an in demand language. But absolutely Arabic, since the military is lacking Arabic speakers.

Yeah, I'm gonna do that. Arabic, then Chinese later on. I've had Chinese classes when I went to school in Cebu, but I forgot almost everything.

Center for International Education? What was the mode of instruction, textbooks or blackboard/notes? I'd like to support schools in the Phil. that offer Chinese to Filipinos. BTW, since you plan on studying Arabic, I think the Presidio in San Francisco has the Navy's language institute over there. Here's the site: http://www.dliflc.edu/
