Maharani Sita Devi 2 of Baroda

In Baroda, India, at her husband's birthday in 1948, Sita Devi, the Maharani of Baroda, was photographed wearing a slightly
modified version of the necklace where more diamonds had been added around the bottom portion of the English Dresden.

Star of the South

The 128.48-carat Star of the South is one of the world's most famous diamonds. Discovered in 1853, it became the first Brazilian diamond to receive international acclaim.

The Patiala Children

The World Famous Patiala Necklace Created by Cartier for Maharaja

"The Patiala Necklace is perhaps one of those rare treasures that is truly a symbol of an era in which royalty was taking its last breath.

It was commissioned by the Maharaja of Patiala, Sir Bhupinder Singh. He happens to be the grandfather of Capt. Amarinder Singh, former Chief Minister of Punjab.

The story goes that the Maharaja went to Cartier's one morning with a chest, opened it and asked them to create a neckace for him using all the stones in it. That chest was overflowing with various precious stones which later formed the Patiala Necklace. A necklace so maginificent in its beauty that Cartier requested it to be displayed before the Maharaja took it to India. However, this neckalce was mysteriously lost in 1948 and reapppeared in 1998, 50 years later in London."

Can someone tell how much of the Mongol genes were absorbed by the Indian royalties? Or were the Mongols racist and only ruled India for themselves and separately from the subjugated Indians? Please enlighten me. Thanks.

Sikkim is a state in Northeast India which borders with Tibet. The guy in the picture was Sri Panch Chempo Palden Thondup Namgyal, the Maharaja of Sikkim. I'm not sure if he has Tibetan origins, but he had a Tibetan wife, who he had three kids with called Tenzing, Wangchuk and Yangchen. After his first wife died, he then married an American woman and had two more kids with her called Hope and Palden, who then succeeded him as the next Maharaja of Sikkim.
