I noticed that in Japanese songs, the singer does not pronounce diphthongs but instead pronounces each vowel seperately. For example, in normal speech, (ai) is pronounced like the English first person subject pronoun "I". But in songs, I hear it pronounced as the "a" in father followed by the "i" in machine. Why do they do sing like that?
