Hi there, I'm trying to learn how to speak Illicono. Is there anyone that can help point me in the right direction? I've googled it many times and I haven't found a site or a CD that may help me. If anyone has any good suggestions please let me know. Thanks a bunch

you can go to this site www.ilocano.org
you can ask the people there what you want to know about Ilocano language, they even have Ilocano-English dictionary in there. But be warned: don't post in Tagalog or else you'll be banned.

the reason why posting in Tagalog is not allowed: there used to be another Ilocano forum owned by the same owner of ilocano.org, he wants to promote Ilocano language to non-Ilocano speakers, but soon that Ilocano forum had became a Tagalog forum. That's why he doesn't allowed posting Tagalog in Ilocano.org.

ilog is the word for lake in ilocano perhaps ilog used to be a term for lake(laguna de bai) in tagalog but semantically shifted....
tagalogs live in an area by the laguna de bai perhaps tagalogs call themselves tagalog bcoz of this....

not another forum but a section.

Why create a section when there are bunch of Tagalog forums out there? Forums in Visayan, Ilonggo, Ilocano, Pangasinenser aren't as much as forums in Tagalog.
If you want to post in Tagalog, then go to another forum. No one's forcing someone to join Ilocano.org, anyway. Besides, English is used, why bother.
BTW, the forum isn't purely Ilocano. They have subsections for Ibanag.

There are plenty of Ilocanos in Dagupan, most are business owners(Chinese-Ilocanos) and students and most are also fluent in Pangasinese, like my family. Even the Ilocano that I speak would probably be considered as a dialect of Ilocano since it's mixed with Pangasinese.
