Aamir (2008) movie trailer

Synopsis :
Aamir, the name literally means leader and our protagonist (Rajeev) becomes a follower not because of faith, not out of zeal but out of 'fear'. Geographically Aamir's maze is set in the Muslim dominated, but poor, areas of Bombay. In its lanes and by lanes, cheap restaurants and lodges, amongst nameless pimps and whores, run-down buildings and over-crowded markets, filth and squalor, Aamir is supposed to understand the life he has lived, the 'choices' he has made, his dreams, his loves and his immediate fears.

Through the course of one day lost in the streets of Mumbai the question remains that do you choose your destiny, or does destiny choose you, and whether Aamir chooses to be a follower or become a leader.

Release date : June 6, 2008

I saw this movie yesterday. It is very different from typical Indian movies. Kind of experimental serious type. Rajeev Khandelwal was brilliant in his performance, not once it showed that it was his first film ever. He acted like some veteran actor.

I really liked the movie. My only problem with it now is that it's a remake of a low budget Filipino thriller name Cavite. I don't mind remakes at all. Don't get me wrong but I've been seeing so many remakes lately in Bollywood, especially from other Asian countries like Korea and now the Phillipines. Not only that, Bollywood isn't crediting these films.

Here is the syopsis for Cavite

This low-budget thriller takes place in the crowded streets of Manila, where a young Filipino-American arrives on a flight from San Diego to visit his family, and suddenly finds himself in a web of terror.

The caller on a cell phone slipped into his belongings demands that Adam (Ian Gamazon) follow a series of instructions that send him through rundown neighborhoods and to a bank, where he will withdraw money. If not, those close to him are in peril.

It becomes clear the caller is a terrorist seeking Adam's reluctant assistance. Along the way, Adam and the no-nonsense caller exchange angry words concerning terrorism and faith.

"Cavite" is an edgy thriller, no-nonsense and harrowing, that grips as its scary plot unfolds.

@nickiher thanks for your feedback. I didn't know they took the script from a Filipino movie. And they don't even bother to give credits to the original movie. That's day light robbery. I am aware that Bollywood has dearth of good scriptwriters. Aamir is a good movie but it shameful to steal movie scripts from other movies like that.

No problem at all! I made same caps from Cavite on my blog too along with Aamir.

I watched this movie. Lovedddddddddd it. Rajeev is great for this role, but I think with his limited expressions he won't suit too many roles. He was like apt for this role - harried, under pressure and yet strong. Glad this did well, need more heroes to bring down the superstar salaries.
