I can only speak from my own experience. Even if society accepts mixed couples. The couples themselves must cope with the differences. In the beginning it is interesting and something different. But after a time you begin to see the deep cultural differences.

If a partnership means that you are deeply connected at some level (beyond the physical) then it helps to belong to the same culture.

I am originally from Russia and married an American man. After living together with him for four years I came to realize that not only him but American men in general do not have a high regard for Russian woman.

In is always important to choose your love interest carefully. If your significant other hails from another continent and culture it is doubly important. Otherwise you are just wasting years of your life...
