yep. i think lots of people actually got motivated to plant because they were saying....look at them (me and my sis), they're from america and willing to plant and help and all. ok...ok...so i lasted mayb 30 mins. only but at least i tried. i was sooooooooo tired!! and told my family, never again will i complain about my job in the states. my job is way easy compare to planting corn and rice, now, that's a tough job!! the heat alone will kill me for sure.
Plus I try not to be like other Balikbayans. Like those that overly shop and complain about the price when it's already cheaper than overseas, show of their fu-king English skills, gold, name brand clothing etc. Yet there are good and bad things about both Filipinos at home and from abroad. The most I had problems with are from the goddamn Filipino snobs from abroad and a just a few arrogant idiots back home that thought they knew more than the ones abroad. Both sides should share each others experiences to enrich each other. Then there are the Filipinos in the States that say, "Oh, you're going back home to visit? Aren't you scared since may-gulo sa Pilipinas?" Or "Why do you want to go there? Go to Hawaii instead, it's more beautiful and safer?" I'm like stupid sh*t eaters! Thats my home country and I can go home anytime I want. If you don't like it, then never set foot on MY home country again. And then there are the ones back home who think we don't know anything about back home and look at us in disdain as though we forgot our national language or the local dialect. Then thats when the taking advantage of takes place too, after which they will chismis about you behind your back saying that your Mayabang, kuripot, 'Kano etc.
I know it was back breaking work working in the fields, but hey, we all had a fun time and joked and laughed with each other, unlike back in the States where my temper is ignited all the time.
