Well I thought to start a new clan specifically for Indian music goers but I guess films as well as art could be discussed too and also any other styles of music from South Asia. I do not wish to see racist comments directed to one another on this thread!! leave it out of here as well as bad language thnx.
Anyone can join not just Indians or South Asians so I guess start discussing, start sharing and most importantly spread the Masala..


I guess I'll start with my first post his name is Surjit Bindrakhia I already introduced him elsewhere but I'll do also post info on him here too.

Surjit Bindhrakia who died of heart failure back in 2003 he's my favourite and I believe he was the best bhangra artist of his time. He currently holds the guiness record for the longest hekh which is a style of singing in which the singer sings a note in one breadth for an extended period I think I counted 15 seconds in one clip. This song Kachche Tandan has a great beat it has always been my favourite. To describe the song its bit like bhangra but more along the folk side of it too never the less a great beat with the dhols and various percussion clanging in the background.

I'm sure members in this forum are familiar with the fast development of India and already established industries. We are also familiar that there is still more work to be done to lift those out of poverty. Here is short clip approximately 3mins film showcasing the other side of India (developing) we rarely hear off. I was hoping to change it to Desi cultural clan but too late now. Its mainly for those who I guess aren't familiar with South Asian culture just take a look at India chat half of it is about the looks of some actress or some kind of endless discussion that eventually is closed or has one two replies. The questions there can also be too specific limiting the response. I would hope here you can discuss anything on Indian culture or South Asian (music, films, pics etc)
