Maybe Bhaskara have not had first hand experience communicating with a westerner, maybe not.....but i have and westerner does not communicate like that. Do not try to convey the message that westerner communicate like that, maybe it's just you on the net.
I'm sure in real life you don't communicate like that with other Indonesians or else you won't be friends with those people around you, or at least you don't show your real feelings towards them.

Indonesian royalties are based on the region and culture.
even every village has its own king.

the degree of their role also depends which royalties it is.

I find that jogja royalties still has quite big role.

in Mollucas are village based,
dont expect some big stuff

my cousin are one of them (next generation)
he making good commercial IT business there, not related to government.
and government-owned rival business try to compete with him hahahah ...

I do have some experiences communicating with westerners whenever I went for vacation. Well, let's just say it's quite easy to have misunderstanding when we're communicating in cyber world, no matter who you are (easterner/westerner). Friends?

I was looking for more things to read about Solo's Javanese noble and royalties and found that this forum is far more informative that I could have expected. I'm always have been interested in history but however I find out that whats been written in textbook is very much a bore so I usually well read about ancient western civilization and pretty much ignorant about malay history, hence I could barely scrap a B in SPM. Which is rather understandable since I don't really relate myself to it.

Its quite sad to say that I am just genetically half-javanese and an idiot in anything about Javanese which I suspiciously thought that my dad had something to do with all the secrecy until a few years ago, my grandfather had passed away, and then suddenly my dad and his side of the family start recounting about my lineage, the history, mysticism, superstitions and the tragics and the interesting part that my great-grand mother had eloped to marry someone beneath her. As in she's really a Solo's blue blood and married a commoner at the turn of last century. It seems so weird that at that time marrying a commoner could get one disowned even if the commoner is technically rich. Anyone recommending me a book or reliable sources about the nobility since there's so many things I'm just curious about but my dad kept a tight lid on it?

Surprisingly it seems that in my side of the family, the women born from my family are cursed by my great great grand parents (very bizarre and surreal). Well, to put aside logics, calling my family cursed thats very much over the top and totally intriguing. Well, who doesn't if its about you?

BTW is there any sites that had more stories or details about mysticism in Javanese culture? The use of bomoh and creatures like gondoroyo and such among the people. Curious. Very curious.

I've learn that some Malaysian have Javanese ancestry and they parents, grandparents, or older generations have migrated to peninsula some decades ago or long before the formation of Republic Indonesia and Malaysia. I've met a Malaysian in KL early this year that claim his grandmother is Javanese. He try to speak Javanese to me but it seems rought-rusty and he seems have a lot to learn... Then again it is good to reconcile or tracing your ancestry to understand your true identity. It is common for Javanese nobles in that times to disowned their son/daughter if they did not married into their own social class or matched their family status. Even if you married other nobles, once you become the widow, you must get out of the palace.

About Javanese mysticism.., is quite spooky, you know about the curse, santet (black magic), and so on..., and there's tons of spirits and demons in Javanese traditions.
