Kekta, sorry Ekta Kapoor presents....Promo looks sleek, I am looking forward to it. Lets see how it matches up to B.R.Chopra's Mahabharat.

Ekta has a gigantic task on her hands. Her Mahabharat is going to be compared to B.R.Chopra's Mahabharat which is going to be a huge challange.

She can pull it off she is pretty entertaining but i guess she cant just make up stories for Mahabaratha like her Drama series but im sure they are going to have all super fancy sets and graphics which is will make up for it

It was really popular. Indonesians, no matter what religion they adhere to, adore Mahabharata and Ramayana

I know Ramayana is very popular in Southeast Asia, but wasn't sure if Mahabharata is also popular over there. I guess Mahabharata and Ramayana should be appealing to all kinds of audiences. Chopra's Mahabharat was also successful in the UK back in the early 90s (that's when I first saw it), and there was also another successful play of Mahabharata released in the West around the same time.

I don't know about other countries in Southeast Asia, but we love Mahabharata here in Indonesia. People address a group of 5 brothers (or even if they are not really brother, just a group of 5 men) as "Pandava". Many Indonesians are named after Yudhistira, Bhima, Arjuna, and Nakula-Sadeva (popular pair of names of twins), even if they are Christians of Muslims

When I was in high school, our teacher dubbed our class as "Kaurava Class" because it was very chaotic
Ekta Kapoor? OMG...Its gonna be a melodramatic disaster.

Someone told me just today that in the latest Mahabharat promo Ekta Kapoor showed actors from her another serial. They are paired together in both Mahabharat and that serial. After knowing that I don't feel excited about about this new Mahabharat serial anymore.

We shouldn't jump the gun, you never know. Even if acting is not up to the mark, there are plenty of things to watch out for. Music, costumes, sets, wars, special effect and plenty more.

Well guys, our worst fears are coming true. Ekta's Mahabharat has been a disaster till now...male characters have Roman/Greek type costumes..ridiculous. Poor special effects...people on orkut are displaying their unhappiness on this fiasco. Lets see if things change.

The serial is very new and I have seen only 2 episodes of this serial. I need to give my opinion about it. The real problem is that we are so used to see the characters of mythological serials in those grand sets wearing 10 kgs solid gold crowns (which is very impractical) that we have lost our sense of reality.
I found this image of a Kshatriya warrior in ancient times in India.

This ancient statue of a Kshatriya Warrior is kept in Indian Museum, Kolkata (Calcutta)
http://www.hinduwisdom.info/War_in_Ancient_India.htm After comparing this with the costumes in the new Mahabharat serial I came to the conclusion that costumes of the serial is very much like in the ancient times. Silver is used instead of gold ornaments, which looks very authentic. The set designers have shied away from creating golden shiny opulent glittering palaces, they have used rocks and less glittering sets which is much closer to reality.
The only and the biggest problem is the choice of actors. In the old Mahabharat serial all the actors really meant for their roles. The dialogue delivery in the new Mahabharat serial is very amateurish and script is not up to the mark.

That's funny. If there is any shame left in Ekta Kapoor, she would stop the screening of new Mahabharat serial. Her choice of actors sucks.
