Cus there's something different about White People. Who doesn't want to be white?? they have all the rights.

because almost the entire world is influenced by western culutre which is based on white culture, what you see in TV and fashion it is all white culture western culture.

quite different back in roman times most white and blond haired people were gallic slaves or barbarians from the north, if u have blond hair, bright eyes then u get mistaken for a gaul or a barbarian from germania the latin people are the dominant ones in those times. Which is quite totaly different today.

No, most Filipino-Americans I kno do not want to be white. Example, Filipino Americans like having brown skin, and they dont mind being in the sun and getting darker. But Filipinos in the Philippines like to stay light, so they stay out of the sun. Being non-white in America is actually kinda cool, so lots of Filipino-Americans take pride in being different

Its actually not the case..filipinos want to have light skin, because light skin is seen as beauty. Caucasians r not the only ones to have light skin. East Asians and Iranians have light skin.

Fil-ams and Aussie fils actually want to be caucasian. They dye thair hair brown or blonde...wear blue eye contacts. And only goal in life is to get with a white girl. The Caucasian is G-d to people like "Kiss the Girls"

^ What Filipinos in America want to be white? I dont know of any. Lots of Filipinos in America "act white" because those are the people that they've grown up around, but I dont know any that actually want to be white. Some Filipinos dye their hair, but I hardly ever come across Filipino-Americans that whiten their skin, or walk around w/ umbrellas because they want to stay light. I'm talking about second generation Filipino-Americans. I know so many Filipino-Americans who love to get dark and want to be darker because in America, brown skin is exotic.

wanting white skin does not mean wanting to be caucasian...Example Thailand....they bleach their skin like mad crazy. Yet they still r proud of their culture and are proud to be thai.

You know of certain filipinos who r embrassed to bring their white friends home because they might see his mom cooking something weird like Dinuguan. Embarrased of their culture and where they come from.

I wish we could be more like Indonesia or Malaysia...where being Indonesian or Malay is something to be proud of. That they see themselves equal to the World Society.

Actually its more of a middle class thing...pure filipinos like Maranao, Tausug actually laugh at such trivial things like skin color. They have 2,000 years of culture they can lean back on and be proud to identify as.

you should question yourself as to why you worship the white skinned woman on your sig rather than ask Filipinos in general as to why they wish they were white. This should give you the answer to your own question.

For you to say that Filipino Americans want to be white is unfair to those of us who aren't exposed to the culture that defines Filipinos. To live in a white society and not be influenced by it is like an expat living in the Philippines and rejecting everything Filipino, which is the same as self isolation. Unless you teach yourself how to adapt and absorb the differences or end up as an outcast.

The insecurity that you're talking about is the fact that you don't accept Filipino Americans as Filipinos because people in the Philippines see Filipino Americans as being well off which causes some jealousy.

You are more likely to see the second or third generation Filipinos from the US creating their own identity which is far different from that of the first generation. The differences are that they are more opinionated, non-passive and proactive which are some of the characteristics that you seldom see amongst the first generations of Filipino immigrants because of the environment that they were raised in that forbids the questioning of authority and instills the respect to elders.

Also don't expect second or third generation Filipinos to take in a culture that isn't truly instilled in them, after all, they never had the opportunity to fully understand it. Think of your question through before you try and place a label that demeans Filipino Americans by saying that they wanna be white.

Would you question African Americans of wanting to be white just because they don't understand the cultures of Africa?
