I want to grow my hair out and I have thick, semi curly hair. Will it work? As of right now the longer it gets it looks like a dry afro without substance :-(

i sympathize..i have very similar hair.
I want to grow it out but i hate the puffy 'afro' phase. It will grow out to be long wavy. You may even end up with a few big curls.
To get through this sad $hitty phase, go to ur hairdresser and ask him/her to recommend a product that will control it.
I used something that tames frizzy hair and pushed it back while it grew out...Dont slick it down though that just looks greasy and gross.
Ask your hairdresser.It'll help alot.

Yeah...i bought some leave in conditioner creme and some frizz control shine stuff so my hair isn't all dry for the humidity, heat, etc. The sideburns are another story though I feel like Elvin, in a non good way lol.

Leave in conditioner is the best for curly hair...Also use redken's butter treat once a week.

lmao i havnt seen one yet :o i taught those gurls perm it since it was a huge trend for curls in the 90s i remeber my cousins use to buy those cheap hair curlers in black market and everyone use to end up having the same hair style at the weddings

good idea. Nothings wrong with letting ur hairdresser 'tidy' it up a bit....like give ur hair a bit of direction so to speak..I have the whole spiked up look right now..i'd need to groom my hair accordingly if i wanted to grow it out now and that would involve a few small trips to the hairdresser...

Yeah I think the "look" I'm going for is somewhat of a Hrithik Roshan long hair look. His hair looks a little better in our awkward phase though...i think mainly due to it being thinner/straighter.

however wavy hair/big curls is fairly common.Nearly every female in my family has loose curls/wavy hair.

Most of the guys in these pics look incredibly gay. If I were to go by this thread I'd say Indian women seem to have a predilection for effeminate pretty boys. A lot of these stars take the metrosexual thing way too far. Holy $hit. But anyway, go for it...I have long hair as well. Most Indian guys have that greasy over gelled spiky hair $hit going on (clubbing hair) or really short cropped hair. Both are pretty lame (just my opinion).

Well I've waited a bit now....argh i hate the waiting process. I don't know if i can make it through to the actual length i want (little bit less than shoulder length i guess). I haven't had a haircut since about end of mid May. I thought my hair would be longer than it is right now (i started as a 0/bald though in mid may). I reallllly just want to shave it all off haha...seems the simplest way to go. I hate the greasiness of the whole situation. I use leave in conditioner every day so my hair isn't all dry and afro-puff looking...makes me feel like my forehead looks greasy though. Don't really know if growing my hair out was such a good idea :-/ Feel obligated to tough it out for a while but...argh. If i can make it till the end of December I'll be really proud of myself. Also, i shed a little...not like all over the place..my hair is not falling out but a random hair piece here and there...annoying..
