I'm not exactly sure what "hmong" is...But after reading these topics and a wikipedia page, it sounds VERY similar to my background. My dad is what he calls "hakka" (hakkanese)? Are these two the same?

Hey just curious what language do your parents speak besides Hakka and English (if they do speak Hakka that is)? Cantonese?

i believe hakka language is closely similar to ethnic SHE (who are closely related to HMONG and MIEN).

Hakka means 'guests' in chinese, they are 100% Han, who came from north china, Henan region, they were called 'guests' by south chinese when they arrived there.
