Sorry the question I posed was way too general. What I really mean is -- Does anybody know of any actual persons who were a Babaylan whether in history or in legend? I would love to read about them. There are a lot of modern references to them, lots of assertions about their importance in ancient Philippine society, some even asserting they were part of a triad of power. I have been searching and there are so many accounts of the ancient chiefs but none of babaylan.

i probably don't understand where you are coming from but your name and avatars are definitely not reassuring

Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part to hope that a few of them must have made history? Also would love to know more about the woman aspect generally in Philippine history and prehistory. Anything -- comments, book lists, links -- would be much appreciated...

Thanks for at least taking my question seriously but I realized soon after that my question was way too broad and too vague!
