I don't really know anything about Mongolia, with the exception of Gheghis Khan and his clans who conquered the world, where Mongolia is, and just a general idea of what they look like. Other than that, I don't know a lot about Mongolia.

I have never met a Mongolian. They seem like other Eastern Asians from what Ive seen on TV, and some of them are nomads.

I don't really like Cyrillic script for writing mongolian (though it's easier for me to read, at the moment), but i guess it's better suited for usage on computers, since mongol scripts are written vertically.

Well, you're not Han Chinese, but there's Mongolians living inside China right now. Besides, as far as the Russians were concerned, they wanted to add Mongolia as part of their Russian empire (to take advantage of China's weakness).
In fact, the Russians had a plan for bringing parts of the Qing Empire under Russian sway, including Outer and Inner Mongolia, Tibet, Manchuria, and parts of Gansu. Interesting, but perhaps a bit idealistic at the present moment. There's already too much friction between Asian states now in a political sense. Also, those countries don't really have much in common, from a cultural perspective.


Modern history (in the context of Sino-Russian relations) is a part of shaping the Mongol identity. Of course, I don't deny that Mongolia is an independent country, and I never claimed that it is currently a part of China. But fact remains, that their current state is a result of the Russian imperialism in that area. In any case, I'm quite happy for Mongolians that they weren't subjugated to Czarist or Communist Russia.

And I am quite happy that we werent subjugated to monarchist or communist China!

So which one would you prefer? Russia or China? I've heard different things from different Mongolian people. Some Mongolians say that they'd rather be a part of "Asia", and some say that wouldn't mind to go with Russia.

I feel closer to the former Soviet Union, much of the old Mongol lands lie in the Soviet Union, the Russians liberated us from CHINESE control, We use cyrilic, and in fact, all Russians are part Mongolian, have you ever been to Yakustk? Irkustk? Yeah, then youll know what I mean. We Mongols and Russians are basically the same people, Soviet!!

With people like 華夏無產 I wouldn't be suprised that you feel closer to the Russians lol.
