WHITEWOLF
[/B]]Hello everyone!

I noticed this forum today, but hopefully not too late. I respect all the discussions regarding my country -MONGOLIA, but disagree some thoughts about the history of Mongolia here. The only thing I want is to be this forum as a real discussion of Mongolian, not Chinese and former Soviet Union. By the way, thanks all of you who shared their opinion here. Now I am writing in Mongolian language to Mongolian members of this forum, so sorry for my inconvenience.

MONGOLIAN MUSIC ONLINE!!!!!!!
This is a pretty good site to find some good Mongolian music!
I recommend the band Lhasuren..
BadmaHanda is also good..

You can also get Serchmaa videos and songs...

Hurd, the famous metal band is on there too. The ones that scared the Chinese in InnerMongolia biggrin.gif

nice music. I like morinhuur, lots of songs conjure up the image of riding down the steppes of Mongolia on horseback, with the wind in your face, and not giving a rat's @$$ about anything else. Very nice.
WHITEWOLF
Hi. The web address that you wrote (www.morinhuur.com) here was created by Inner Mongolian people, not outer Mongolians, i think. Because the site contains either outer and inner Mongolians songs. Most of the folk songs (urtiin duun) here are not in their real Mongolian version (I mean outer MOngolian version) because inner Mongolian culture is influenced by Chinese culture.
I suggest you guys to access the site www.download.mn and try to listen to morin huur musical performances and modern musics which created by outer Mongolian people. The site is in Mongolian language, so that may have a problem for you. However, if you want to listen to morin huur musical performances, you should click on the icon "BUCAD" at the right side of the menu. Busad means Others in Mongolian language. Then you should click on the 8-9-10 to download the mongolian morin huur music. The author of these musical creatures is Mr. Jantsannorov, 2 times state honored composer. He is very famous in Mongolian culture. I hope this helps you.

PS: I don't have any good pics about Mongolian culture and foods right now, but I will post you when I get it. I only have some pics of wild nature in Mongolia.
blue_sky
I agree with WHITEWOLF. This site is created by Inner Mongolians but not Independent Mongolia. Just see the picture of HipHop (It was shown in Modern Mongolian writting wich means Lumino in Beijing). Lumino is the Mongolian famous HipHop group.
By the way, I have some really nice pictures about our country. But I don't know how to post it. Somebody please help.

Most things from I see from Mongolia and from the nomads, and its always inside one of their huts, riding horses, or the type of wrestling they do. Their cities seem barren or not as developed as East Asian countries. But I know even less about Inner Mongolia, is it better than Mongolia in terms of having metropolitan cities?

Hi all.

A question for the Mongolians and the korean: Do Mongolians look up to Koreans?

cuz my korean friend told me his dad went to mongolia for a business deal and the Mongolians learnt korean in schools and think of Korea as a role model for their country.

This leads on to another question: are Mongolians truly related to Koreans?
cuz from the pics of mongolians i ve seen they seem very similar to many koreans.

pics of mongols, judge it by your self, not something your friend told you.i used to live in china,i can say that, mongolians don't look like koreans

president of mongolia

the best role model for outer mongolia would be China, since china and outer mongolia bordering eachother and most of all, outer mongolia was once a commie state. taking korean as a role model just doesn't work for such a backward country .

China, Mongolia upgrade cooperative relations
( 2003-06-05 08:24) (1)

China and Mongolia Wednesday upgraded their relations as they looked forward to co-operating more in the future.

The strengthened partnership was announced during a meeting between visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Mongolian counterpart Nachagyn Bagabandy.

"China and Mongolia will respect, understand, support and trust each other and be good neighbours, friends and partners for generations,'' said Hu, when meeting the press after the talks which he described as "frank and in-depth.''

He added that the nation is ready to actively develop relations with its neighbours.

Under the new relationship, the two countries will develop political trust, respect each other's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and development paths, and resolve differences through consultation.

They will expand economic ties and cultural, scientific and personnel exchanges.

China and Mongolia will also maintain peace along their 4,676-kilometre border and work together on regional and international issues.

Bilateral relations have developed greatly since 1994 when the two countries renewed an earlier treaty pledging friendship and co-operation.

China is now the largest investor in and trade partner of Mongolia, accounting for nearly 40 per cent of the foreign capital flowing into the country and more than 40 per cent of its trade volume. Still, both leaders believe that there is room for better economic ties.

According to Bagabandy, future co-operation will focus on infrastructure construction and mining of Mongolia's natural resources.

"The leaders of the two countries have agreed that they will stage large-scale projects that, on the one hand, will push forward the development of Mongolia and will contribute to China's economy on the other hand,'' said Bagabandy.

In its latest effort to foster closer economic ties, China has decided to provide US$300 million in loans on favourable terms to Mongolia for the construction of major mining and infrastructure construction projects.

Hu arrived in the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator for a State visit yesterday afternoon. He is scheduled to meet Mongolian parliamentary speaker S. Tomor-Ochir and Prime Minister Nambar Enkhbayar today before leaving for Beijing.

"This trip has continued the momentum for frequent contacts and the tradition of exchanges of visits,'' said Bagabandy. "The visit has also raised new goals for the development of bilateral relations.''

u may have a point...but some of the pics u posted looked to me as if they were turkic-mongols, not what we would term a proper mongolian, like mgl_style. that grinning old man with the hat looks like he has gray eyes.

anyway...heres smthg for u to chew on...

"Geography and political ties aside, what puts Mongolia in a unique position to press North Korea are the "unique ties of blood" between Mongolians and Koreans, said Baabar, who is also a well-known historian here. Ethnically, Koreans and Mongolians belong to the Altaic language family. Many Korean clans are believed to have come from eastern Mongolia."

didnt it all ne asians came from the mongols? sure.gif

there isnt any points in saying koreans came from the mongols since almost all asians came from the mongols. infact mongols didn't always lived in mongolia grass land. they came from some woodland near amur river(in present day, heilongjiang,ne china)

btw: thoes pics arent turkic mongols,i just typed mongolians, and thoes are the results). the turkics are a cacusoid race,as you can see it central asia.

Mongolia not that backward. Nomadic herdsmen have tv hooked up to satellite systems. Mongolia needs to find other nations who are interested in investing. Its bad to just have one nation control 40% of your trade. Being landlocked doesnt help. They need to have free trade zones at seaports in China and Russia but under there control. Need to get permission to use rail lines (no charge if possible) in China and Russia to get to the ports. Since there pop. is 2, 700,000 (they can be overrunned by there neighbors who have much bigger pop..) they need to get along with there neighbors but should play one neighbor against another if the situations warrants it.

Greatings to all! I am Erdene from Mongolia, studying in Malaysia. I always surf in internet for information about people thoughts of Mongolia. Many Many Thanks to Mgl_Style for opened this topic. I will try to get interesting information about Mongolia. Oh btw, there is a movie coming out next year and the name called "MONGOL". You guys should watch it when it comes out thou, I think it will do some good.

Hello erdene. Found out Mongolia has access to river systems which go into the Amur river where small ships can navigate. Should try to have conversations with your neighbors on making those river systems international waterways (like the Paraguay/Parana rivers international waterway). That way will have access to sea which is cheaper than rail.

For all the people who are interested, "The Story of the Weeping Camel" is a very good movie. It was nominated at the oscars last year and imho should've won badteeth.gif- It's a movie about family of herdsmen in Gobi desert. You can go rent it at blockbuster, a must see!

To all of Mongolian Ancestry:

I am well aware of that fact that Mongolia is Mongolia. However, I have visited Urumqi recently and have realized the "Chinese" today is a polictical term and less of a ethnic term. Han would be more apppropriate. Therefore some "Mongolians" are "Chinese" while others are not. This is not to negate your proud heritage, it's just a geopolitical reality.

Your ancestors not only conquer China but most of the known civilized world during its heyday. Alexander the Great had great press but he didn't come close to conquering the "known world". As far as I know, the Mongolian people came closer than anyone else in that regard.

As for the Monglian/Han (Chinese) relationship, it is strained now. China can recite the exploits of Ghengis and Kublai (who were great warriors but also huge Aseholes), and Mongolians can rightfully say that they are oppressed by the Hans today. But we have more in common than differences. I have been to Russia and they are a very racist society at this time. If Mongolians are assimilated to Russian society, they will be treated far worse than the Hans are treating them now. In addtion, while I am proud to be an American, this is still a racist society even though it is one of the more tolerant nations of the world. China is also a racist society but at least the Mongolians are very close in physical appearance to the Han and racism and bigotry has a shorter half life when people share similar appearancea. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

Haven't said that, I really want to visit Mongolia. Hopefully I can visit (or dare I even hope) stay with a nomadic family and see how they live. Any suggestions on how I can do that???

I know that the "average" Mongolian would not be fond of a Han hanging out with them but who knows, maybe we can close the gap between us one person at a time. I would go to Russia again and I KNOW they hate me. They don't like Americans or Asians and I am both.

Hey ILSANDER!!! Thanks for the info that you mentioned about Mongolia has River access to Amur river. Actually, I did not know about it, hehe. Thank you.
Hey House!!!
It is very great of you you have jouned our Mongolian chat and left your thoughts. I apreciate for what you typed here. So, I geuss you are Chinese-American, huh? For your info, Mongolians don't like to hear their ancestors called "AssHoles". I don't know what every one thinks but I consider him as a succesful Businessman, icon_smile.gif . He istablished Silver Road and the Land of Mongol Empire was Free-Trade-Zone. That is how Europe and Asia knew each other.

Let's look at funny way, think about there was no war... and the population of earth could be a large number by today. Cause, since there was no war no one could have died of war, right? Maybe we could have used all the resource of earth and we could facing with HUNGER!!! by now.( Who knows, maybe eating each other!) I think every war has its reason and it tries to balance the population and the resource. I don't give wrong to any War Lords, cause they did their purpose of being human.

I don't know why you call them "a**holes", House? What do you think about my opinion?

I feel the same way. Really admire those people. Don't get me wrong, I love Los Angeles and modern life has alot to offer but I also realize that they have other things that I envy.
