It doesn't matter whether I'm Korean or you're Chinese. You're a barbarian, and that's an assessment on an individual who lacks morality.

Stop b!tching kid. If you have a problem, then go ahead and report to the mods. I don't think I'm the one who barged in here to make offensive comments on Mongolia. Talk about narrow-minded bias.
Anyways, I fully support Mgl_style's post that Mongolia is an independent nation where Mongolians hold sovereign power over their own territory. Also, I don't think Mongolian Chat should be under Chinese Chat. Hmongs and Koreans are also an ethnic minoirty in China, but we don't see Hmong Chat or Korean Chat under Chinese Chat. Also, there has been some interest on Mongolia in various threads, so I think it's a good idea to start a new Mongolian Chat under Asian culture. There aren't as many Mongolians as other ethnic peoples in AF, but the same can be said for the Japanese. There aren't many Japanese around, but still there is a Japanese Chat where discussions are mostly held by non-Japanese ethnicities.
With regards to 中国勇士's negative comments on Mongolia, I would like to make a few points on the positive aspects of Mongolia. It is for certain that North Korea is a lot more urbanized and industrialized than Mongolia. North Korea was even more industrialized than South Korea a few decades ago, a legacy of Japanese colonial development. Despite North Korea's industrial achievements however, there's something that North Korea should learn from Mongolia - the successful and peaceful transition to a democratic society. Currently North Korea is one of the most tyrannical socieities in the world, and their people are subjected to constant political oppression, not to mention abject poverty due to its international isolation. As a former communist state like North Korea, Mongolia is the exact opposite. It is an exmparly state, perhaps the only in Asia, that took successful democratic reforms. Unlike North Korea which is isolated in the international community, Mongolians are reaching out to the world, an excellent example of which can be 25,000 Mongolian expatriots in South Korea who recently even built a school of their own in Seoul. I believe that Mongolia, as a nation with rich natural resources, has a lot of economic potential. If they only manage to somehow extend their trade routes to other nations beyond the seas, the world has a lot to offer for them.

I share your optimism that Mongolia will achieve success in its development. It's not that I know a lot about Mongolia. I just pick up bits of information from the Korean press, where Mongolia does get some moderate attention. Just yesterday, there was an article on Mongolia, about some of the misunderstandings that Koreans have on Mongolia. In fact, there is a fixed series of articles on the Mongolian culture and people carried out by Chosun Ilbo, South Korea's most influential paper press. They have a whole section dedicated to it on their internet version.
And yes, there was a Mongolian politician who said North Korea should take Mongolia's example to reform to a democratic society and reintegrate itself to the world community. I agree with him(or her, I forgot) 100%.

Way to defend someone who doesn't need it.
Nu ma, nu ma iei, nu ma nu ma nu ma iei!
Hahahaha...
On a more serious note, Mongolia is squeezed between two great economic and diplomatic powers, one declining but still formidable, the other growing in power, and has a certain lust and appetite for resources.
However rich in natural resources Mongolia is, its soil is no longer fertile due to many years of overharvesting and overgrazing.

The best cashmere comes from Mongolia. Also there r only 2.7 million people but nearly 40 million animals like cows, horse, sheep ets. So we have huge source of raw materials like wool, leather etc. Government is favoring foriegn investment by giving alot of discounts & advantages at this moment. Under the untouched soil of Mongolia, who knows what is in there. So far copper, gold even found a oil.

Yes, I'm from Korea.
This "misunderstanding" article was an interview with the Mongolian Ambassador to South Korea. He expressed his regret that a Korean TV program had filmed the slaughtering of lambs and broadcasted it to the public. He said that it's forbidden in Mongolia for people other than the man doing the slaughtering to look at those scenes. Other stuff was about how South Korea and Mongolia established their diplomatic relations, cultural similarities and differences between Koreans and Mongolians, and the economic potential in natural resources that Mongolia has.
Currently, the Korean public does not have a very good opinion on the Korean community in Mongolia. Korean organized crime activity in Mongolia has been exposed by the Korean media, and it has received a lot of attention. This has stirred the Korean public to the point of the Korean central government taking action. Recently, a national committee on "Ugly Koreans" has been estabalished to get rid of this problem. Anyways, I find it regrettable that Mongolians had to see this ugly side of us. I hope it won't happen again.

All this is very recent, probably within the last couple of years. Some Koreans were engaged in vice and fraud, and this has caused a lot of anger in the Mongolian public according to the Korean press. And yes, the committe better do something soon, because this incident has also caused anger among us Koreans, including myself. This problem also became an issue in the National Assembly(Korean congress) inspection of the Korean government(it's a huge political thing in Korea), and currently the Korean people are demanding that the Korean ambassador to Mongolia take responsibility and step down from office.

I think so too that Mongolia can be a bridge to North Korea. It's probably the only democratic state with official diplomatic ties with North Korea. I'm hoping that Mongolia, among the very few countries that North Korea has ties with, will be a positive influence on North Korea. Also, Mongolia is supporting South Korea in the historical dispute with China. China, with political intentions, has been making ancient Korean states into Chinese provinces and ancient Koreans into Chinese ethnic minorities. Mongolia is one of the key supporters for South Korea in this dispute with China, and according to some articles I've read, Mongolia has also been victimized by historical distortions by the Chinese government, and has made official complaints.
Oh, and it's nice to meet you too

I really hope that 2 Korea will get together one day. Well, Germans done it! By the way in Mongolia, there r some nongovernmental organisation is working on this issue, specially to help North Korea.
Well done! to Mongolia has done official complaints against China. We've been tortured nearly 200 yrs under Chinese rule. They still managed to kept Inner Mongolia.
For us, now THE FUTURE is more important. Bush has just visited Mongolia. He seemed rather relaxed during his stay, according to press. He thanked for our support against Iraq.
