Twins with different skin colours - one black and the other white - have been born in Berlin.

Doctors say it is an extremely rare occurrence, but it is possible if genes combine in a certain way.

The twin boys, named Ryan and Leo, are the offspring of a mixed-race couple.

Mum, Florence, hails from Ghana in western Africa and dad, Stephan, from Potsdam in Germany.

"Ryan came first, and everything was as usual," said the hospital's doctor Birgit Weber.

"But when Leo was born, I couldn't believe my eyes."

The doctor said she had been present at some 10,000 births over almost 20 years and had never seen anything quite like this, it has been reported.

"Both kids have definitely the same father," she added.

The twins were reportedly born on July 11, but were kept from the public until press could be invited to see them.

There was a pair of twins in United States, just this past year, where two mixed-race parents got together and gave birth to twins. One twin had the same features an African American would have. The other one had blue eyes, blonde hair, pale skin and everything.

This one just looks lighter and darker.

people will say, oh they are so cute; however, most people will be looking directly at the white child and her blue eyes.

most children's books have white characters and pictures. guess who is being indirectly emotionally and mentally affirmed?? guess who is NOT being affirmed of her uniqueness and beauty?

white children's hair, for the most part, is easy to manage. what about the black child's hair whose texture will thicken? the black girl will see how her white sister can 'just go' while she has to work with her hair to get it manageable.

by the time the girls are in 4th or 5th grade and upwards guess who the boys are going to run to FIRST? irregardless if the black child is prettier.

I have some friends that are like that. One brother will be blonde and blue eyed and the other super mexican looking. I've seen it enough to not be amazed by it, but I guess since those two were twins it's a little odd.

I had some friends in school... for 3 years I knew them both and had no clue they were even related. They looked so different it didn't even occur to me even though they had the same last name. The one was very fair skinned, blue eyes, blonde hair; the other was very dark, dark brown eyes and curly balck hair. They're brothers from of the same parents. Another one I know, the older brother has red hair and blue eyes and white skin, while the other has brown skin, black hair and green eyes. Basically, for both, one looks white and other looks hispanic. It's strange, they don't even look related unless you can see how they move/ talk.
