I think he's from Fresno California.

I heard rumors he was training and getting back in shape to come back, this time for MMA. I guess it's true! He shoulda went straight into it when he was younger instead of retiring....but he had other stuff to do.

How old is he now? His Muay Thai Pro record was like 30 something wins and 2 losses by decision I think. I remember watching him fight in Saint Paul back in 99-00. I had his video with his autograph too..but I lost the cover though LOL!

I hear he is a pretty badass instructor though.

Yia was suppose to fight on Pure Combat card but he caught Staph infection in wrestling. He is reschedule to fight in the F1 series Sept. 18, 2008 for a championship title. Yup, the promotion is willing to let Yia fight for their vacant F1 lightweight title. Which is good. I heard from people at his gym saying that he had a hard time getting the commissioner to agree on it, but because of his Muaythai experience they allowed it.

Wish him luck...

go for the goal but be caution. hmong old saying "what you good at, you'll die at". not exactly sure how to translate in English but it's close enough.

I think he fights out of Pacific Martial Arts (PMA). The guys at Buhawe was part of PMA and they went on their own. I'm not sure who he trains with but I know that he works on his ground game with Matt Smith and one of the Camarillo brothers.
Buhawe began with Yia "The Bull" Mua being one of the original guys.
