I'm from ky. Me and my dad found this in the woods hiking and i was wondering if any of you could could tell me if this is Japanese and what it says? Thank you for taking the time to look. If it says underword does that mean its a tombstone?

Cool find. The top picture shows the correct orientation. My comprehension of kanji isn't that great, but it looks a lot like the character 冥 (くら[い] kura[i]), which means dark. It also looks like the top of another kanji is cut off at the bottom, so maybe if you go back you'll find more.

The Chinese board would also be a good place to ask about it, as much of the Japanese writing system is based off of Chinese.
