Couple flee from adultery arrest

An English man facing jail in the Philippines for adultery with a married woman, has fled to Thailand with the woman and their baby daughter.

David Scott, 36, of Swindon, Wiltshire, had a child with Cynthia Delfino, 29, who had left her husband, but was not divorced at the time.

The pair were arrested on suspicion of adultery. If convicted, they could be jailed for seven years.

They were later granted bail and have now fled to Bangkok.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it stood ready to provide consular assistance if requested

if you break the law in a foreign country you have to pay your dues i have no sympathy icon_neutral.gif

this is actually quiet common. when you say 'no divorce' but act like you guys can still be together...well that's what happen when the rules of a country reflect the wisdom of clergymen who themselves are mostly virgin and have not been married.

Adultery is bad

7. You shall not commit adultery

10. You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's

In Islam Adultery is even punishable by death.

And because Muslims have enough rifles they are able to divorce thus sparing men and women Sharia inspired death penaltys. However nobody else, no matter what their religious/moral beliefs can divorce. Once in never out unless you psuedo doctors testilie in court about not being able to form the legal consent to marry in the first place. So psuedo science is used to appease the Bishops as everybody pretends that annulments are not divorces.

Until the people are able to say NO to the Bishops, this issue is secondary to family planniing, you will have this silly society where every other man has a mistress with children yet adultery is "illegal".

Adultery is only applied to a married woman who had an affair with a another man which is punishable by imprisonment. If a married man has a mistress it is called concubinage which is not punishable by law but just a demand of financial support to the legal family. Concubinage can also be the basis for an annulment or divorce. If the married man marries another woman but the man is still married then that is bigamy which is punishable by imprisonment.

I know there is a law in the Philippines which can automatically annul a marriage if the married couple have no communication for seven years for example when the man abandons his family and the man has not seen his wife and family for seven years.

Its not automatic, the husband is legally presumed to be dead. If he reponds to the court summons even aftewr seven years the asawa who wants out is still married if they choose that legal tactic.

This has nothing to do with the law in the Phililppines all this is about is the pi$$ed off ex husband who is most likely a waste of air wanting money

When Mr Delfino, who split from his wife several years ago, found out she was dating a foreigner, he refused her an annulment and demanded £7,000 for "loss of face".

Its all about the law. It wasn't just a pissed off or greedy husband who thought he won the lottery when his wife found a foriegn boyfriend.

The state through its police supported the husband in his extortion attempt. They followed the law so they can't be accused of corruption. Even if the arresting officer spent Wednesdays thru Fridays with his girlfriend and the other four days a week with his wife. Meanwhile Presidents, Senators and Mayors joke about their kids with multiple girlfriends, except when the wife is standing next to him.

The law was followed, but the law is only followed when someone has enough political power to force the cops to act or the cops get their cut when the boyfriend pays off the extortion to be with the seperated wife. It doesn't matter if she was abandoned or she left for cause, the law is the hammer which allows the extortion to work.
