Hi,

Are there any experts on here about claiming dual citizenship?

I was born in PI and have since become a naturalized US Citizen.
I want to reclaim my Filipino citizenship but want to know how that affects my US standing.

Has anyone reclaimed their PI citizenship and if so, have you received any notifications with regards to your US citizenship?

Thanks.

Don't you have to go through the whole Filipino naturalization therefore 14 years of living in the philippines?

You can apply for dual citizenship now in the Philippines, that way you can have the best of both worlds. I'll post the link later on how and where to apply.

All the privileges and rights as a filipino citizen you can get in the Philippines except that you can't run for any elective position at all.

With regards to your US citizenship status, i think once you're a US citizen, you'll always be one unless you're going to renounce it in which case, that means you still have to pay taxes to Uncle Sam even if you're living in the Philippines.

EDIT:

Here's one resource i found, a webzine from an american expat who's wife has dual citizenship.

Of course, having dual citizenship doesn't seem to have any benefits.

Since you're in the US, just go the nearest Philippine embassy and apply.
Applying for dual-citizenship doesn't affect your US citizenship.
Having more than 1 citizenship is a plus.
