Still doesn't sound that great to me. Most civilizations were kind of primitive back then. In the 13th century, everyone thought huge empires of the Old World were over. Plus, Genghis had to deal with the advanced Chinese and Islamic empires, Hindustan, as well as the Kievan state and European knights. These people were savages in 300 BC while they were quite advanced civilizations by the 13th century, and G.K. whooped them all with just bows, arrows, and horses. I still don't see why Alexander is great.

If anything since everyone was more primitive back in Alexanders days it would have been more easier for Alexander to conquer primitive people so what ghenghis khan did was even greater plus he conquered a lot more land and people so im not sure how titaniums logic justifies the bias in that way. Not true, around Alexander's time, the Greek city-states were already writing books on philosophy. Hinduism and Buddhism were starting to rise in India as Confucianism and Taoism in China. Not mention the Persian Empire was at that time the largest and most powerful empire in the world and this was after the rise and fall of numerous empires in the Middle East- Babylonian, Egyptian, Hittite, etc. Maybe Western Europe at the time was roaming around in forests and living in huts but a good number of the rest of the world certainly wasn't.



Nobody is denying that Khan was a far superior conqueror to Alexander and most people unanimously agree that he would have whooped his @$$ in the battlefield but that's not really the issue here. Alexander's conquest of the Persian Empire was an unmatched feat for his time. He too had to deal with the most powerful empire of his heyday. It's was not just bows arrows and horses like most people assume, they also acquired and used siege technology. Hell they even used actual defective combatants.

The Mongols established the first true West-Far East contacts, stimulated the Silk road trade, allowed the West to gain Asian technology (which was obviously bad for us) the Mongol empire made Moscow the center of Russia as opposed to Kiev in modern-day Ukraine among other things. Alexander the great wasn't a man who was interested in spreading western thinking he was interested in conquest, spreading Greek culture wasn't is intention, in fact he became rather comfortable with Persian way of living

Edit: the Mongols also introduced Asian culture and technology to The West and started the renaissance, ideas such as political immunity, freedom of religion etc all came from the Mongol Empire. It ended European isolation and reintroduced mainstream civlization which the west had lost since the fall of Rome.
