Mumbai, Aug 8, 2008: Leading Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor says that she has some Hollywood offers, but it can wait as Bollywood was her first priority.

Kareena was responding to reports in a section of the media that she will be paired opposite Hollywood star Billy Zane in a Daniel Silverman film tentatively titled Chamera, in the role of an Asian girl.

The lady who is busy like never before has been in thick of action for one thing or the other. Though her films have not done any magic at the box office of late, but she is attracting lots of attention due to her more than perfect figures and the number of assignments that she is working on.

Kareena is bogged down under work and work. She has five films in different stages including Salman Khan's Main Aur Mrs Khanna. Other films include Golmaal Returns with Ajay Devgan, Kambakth Ishq with Akshay Kumar and Raju Hirani’s Idiots with Aamir Khan. She is doing another film with Saif Ali Khan being produced by his production house.

There are rumours that two films that Kajol was supposed to do are also being offered to Kareena. She seems to be in a hurry and is taking up everything that comes her way. The actress is reportedly doing a row of movies without any breaks. She is known to be a workaholic though and loves keeping herself busy. So her schedule for this year is films, films and more films.

In the meantime she is happy for some Hollywood offers that she has received. When asked about the news she said, “Yes, there have been offers but it is too early to comment on anything”.

Kareena is in the Hollywood city of Los Angeles shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakkth Ishq.

Kareena Kapoor lands Hollywood project

Rumors were rife that she was in talks with Hollywood Biggies for her foray into Hollywood. But her deal has taken Bollywood by surprise.

Kareena will star with actor Billy Zane of Mummy and Titanic fame. She will be directed also by a Hollywood heavyweight Daniel Silver man who has to his credit Perfect strangers and the Devil wears Prada.

The film named ‘Chamera’, will be shot in North India in a month long schedule. Kareena Kapoor plays an Asian girl.

An agent for the actress confirmed, “This is one of the many projects that Kareena has been offered. They are paying her a handsome amount since she fits the role perfectly. She will be making an official announcement soon.”

I have read somewhere that Kareena Kapoor is doing a project with Billy Zane.

She's going to be waiting a long time. Unlike Bollywood, you need to be talented to make it in Hollywood. Good looks are a bonus. She has neither. The only requirements for bollywood are light skin/middle eastern wannabe looks. Nepotism helps get you in the door.

While the euro look is a universal look, there are very few bollywood stars with crossover appeal. They look way too ethnic/middle easternish in their features to make it. I'd say out of the current crop the only actors with any kind of potential would be John Abraham and Katrina Kaif. Both are mixed raced and neither have the classic indian can-opener nose.

John has a busted nose too. I'd say Hrithik. He's the only Bollywood actor other than Aishwarya to have a Western company that he endorses in India use his image to promote products in the West as well.

I don't understand why Bollywood stars are eager to cross over to Hollywood the only thing that sells in Hollywood is special effects.

Look at the blockbuster of this summer and what could become the highest earning movie of all time in "The Dark Knight" and the movie didn't sell because it had a pretty woman in it.

Like I said if you want to sell a movie in Hollywoodland you need special effects, pretty ladies and actual acting talent don't matter.

I think Bollywood and Chinese cinema have a lot more potential in the long term than Hollywood does anyway so flocking to Hollywood doesn't make sense in any way.

No see that's where you're wrong mate. Mass consumption films will always be dubious in depth and substance, that's part of the reason they are so successful, they are diluted down to appeal to a wide swath of people. Compromises are made to ensure boxoffice success.

Bollywood is mass marketed garbage. The best indian films are those 2-3 indie movies that come out and bomb unceremoniously.

French, hong kong, korean, japanese, and even israeli films are miles ahead of Bollywood. The reason these bollywood losers want to cross over is because they can't deal with the fact that outside India nobody gives a rats @$$ about them.

Seriously, what is the appeal of Kareena Kapoor and her lantern jaw for the common american man? If we want a spoiled whore, we'll just watch Paris Hilton on TV. The Indian actors with talent like Om Puri, Ben Kingsley,etc are already working in foreign films.

I agree man Bollywood is all about half naked women running around at the moment and it doesn't look like that will change(not that I'm complaining lol) but I think Hollywood is really the same in many respects. Hollywood is all special effects land with $hit like 10 000 BC being visually stunning and thats about it. Bollywoods version of eye candy is half naked women as opposed to special effects.

Hollywood still cranks out great movies like Iron Man and The Dark Knight from time to time but I can't imagine Kareena Kapoor headlining a movie and selling it on her looks when playboy and porn is so widely available in the western world and just considered normal affair.

I think shes better off sticking in Bollywood and waiting it out to grow the country is going through a good economic phase Indian Cinema could be quite significant in a few years.

Well it's true that Hollywood has it's share of mass marketed crap, the only difference is it produces many more good films than Bollywood.

If you want to compare how $hit the Indian film industry is, try watching hong kong films. There are HK films from the 80's with better production values than Indian films today. Bollywood is all about glamor and looks and that kind of thing gets old fast.
