hi, i was just wondering if the lao folks seen the khmer kehn dance, it's call rabum kehn. i'm in to my khmer traditional dancing & music. i come from a family of musicians & dancers. i've been a performer since i was young. it's a great way to meet da honeyz. (*_*)

this is one of my favourite dance. great music , great beats. i heard that the kehn probably came from loas. do loa folks have a dance like the khmer kehn dance. it's just that i have'nt seen a similiar lao dance before. khmer had a similiar instrument to the lao kehn that go bak to pre-historic times. i say that the lao kehn was introduce to khmer from the early days of lao migration south in to the khmer empire. us khmer like the sound of it & adopted it. da lao immigarnts in to the essan region of thialand & in to kambodia during the indo-china days brought the kehn to the khmer people as well. the kehn not use in mainstrem khmer music. i only know this dance where the kehn is used. khmer use our own flutes like the sralai in traditional & modern music.

the song & dance is about these guys trying to seduce some honeyz by playing them the kehn. i've tried playing the guitar & flute to seduce some honeys. may be i should give the kehn a try. hehe beerchug.gif

i hope the lao folks enjoy this dance as much as i do.

Where I live, there's quite a big population of ethnic Lao people from Cambodia. Their called "Lao Ynaw".

I had the chance to talk to someone of them and they told me about how some of them ended up in Cambodia.

There was this monk, who told my family his ancestors came from Vientiane and fled to Cambodia during the time Vientiane was fighting against Siam.

The Khene is not used in traditional Khmer orchestra. Its only used in the regions that is in contact with Lao, which are the norther bordering provinces.

Of all the countries next to Laos: Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia, I feel closer to Cambodia. I know the Cambodians are the least likely to stab me in the back. I can't say the same about Vietnam or Thailand.

In the pen the Lao and Khmer guys roll with eachother in the other's car. They run the other's car. In some places the Khmer's have their own car but allow Lao guys into their car. That just shows the love of the two folks.

From what i've seen a gaew if quick as fu-k to backstab your @$$. Plus theyre always rollin hella deep and trying to start $hit with a Lao guy.

Back in the early 90s, 2 Viet guys tried to jump my brother. My bro was minding his own business but these 2 Viet guys wanted to pick on him and push him around. Everday these 2 Viet guys at school would try to pick on him.

One day, after school my brother was walking home and these 2 Viets cornered him and tried to jump him.

Man, my brother whipped their asses so bad it wasn't even funny. The next day, those 2 Viet guys didn't even dare look at him.

This khene dance, Robam Khene is often used to display Khmer culture in my high school when we had "International week", a week long event that celebrates the cultural diversity of our school. It was this dance and the coconut dance that Khmers performed, because it was easy and under the time limit embarassedlaugh.gif.
