hi, i was wondering if there is a lao or thai version of this khmer song call chnum mune(last year in khmer).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJLYTato3Co

i love this song, it's my favourite song of all times. I have so many version of this song it's not even funny. in this khmer surin version. the song is sung in khmer & wat i sort was thai but turn out to be the lao dialect. i was wondering if there is a full thai or lao version of this song. i just want to add it to my chnum mune collection.

this song always brings out the good memories for me. especially of gurls i've been out with & especially this one lao gurl bawling.gif , sad to say things did'nt work out between us. but i will always remember her. both the good & bad bawling.gif .haha

but yeah, when i listen to that khmer surin version with the khmer & lao in it, it always bring back memories of the lao girl i went out with. aahhmmm anyways it be great if someone can hook me up with a lao-thai version of this song.

That Tai Oratai woman seems to enjoy singing Lao songs or songs in the Lao language. I understand that she's a Thai national living in Thailand, but is Lao her ethnicity?

Yeah she's Lao from Ubon.

Tai is a blessed woman. I heard before she became a singer, she couldn't even afford to buy a school uniform. Now she's doing good and able to provide for her family. beerchug.gif

That makes sense. I remember seeing pictures of her performing at a Lao temple here in the U.S.

A lot of Lao folks adore her because Tai Oratai Me Nesai Dee. She's one of those Thai artists that I don't mind paying to see because she has a nice attitude(from what I hear). Everytime she tours the U.S., she's making atleast 40-50 thousand U.S. dollars or maybe even more from Lao peeps. She'll never make that kind of money in Thailand. It's all good because Khon Lao Me Nam Jai and we don't mind supporting these Thai artists if they're kind and humble.

Well I hope that Lao people are that generous when it comes to American artists of Lao ancestry...LOL!

If Tai Oratai (Thai artist of Lao ancestry) is making easy money from her Lao fans, then I think there needs to be an American artist of Lao ancestry who's also making money from the Lao community in the U.S.

So, who would like to be the first successful Lao-American artist that's supported by the Lao community? Ibanez, how 'bout you? hehe jk!

Hahaha. True. I can't think of any Lao American artists that is making money from our Lao community yet.

But some Lao artists from Laos are starting to cash in. One Lao artist, I don't know if you heard of him, Kongla http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbBhDlW_bRI been touring the U.S. a few times and he's making pretty good money from Lao peeps. I rather support Lao artists than Thai artists(but Tai Oratai and Mike Piromporn are exception).

Supporting our Lao artists would propel the growth of our Lao music industry...

Yeah he has toured a couple times and was making a lot of money.

I can't believe Lao people paid 10,000 even 12,000 for thai guy Sornram. Lao singer's usually only ask for 2-3,000 a night. That guy is a twig that can't sing.

Awhile back there was a singing competition in Thailand. Everyone was singing Thai's songs, except this American woman sang the above song ( chnum mune ) in Khmer( Khmer version). She was pretty good.

I have one of his CD. A lot of Khon Lao like his music. The lady at my local Lao music store told me about him and wanted me to check out his music.

i think the tai oratai song is the closest to the chnum mune song. dam she find yo. she can sing for me any day, twice on sundays biggthumpup.gif . the odlest chnum mune song in my collection is from the late Im Song Seum from vityu jait band from battambomg province in cambodia. mr Im also had relatives in the essan region of thailand. Battambong is right next to thailand, so that song caught on fast in the region. the song always been popular among khmer essan people, but the song i posted was the first time it was made in to a big hit. the singer sang it in khmer & thai/lao to get as many people in thailand & kambo to listen to it & make more money from record sales.

trying to find the original chnum mune song was a dam mission. it was as hard as trying to find a non-corrupt politicain in kambo. but i finaly found it, after knocking on heaps of doors & asking around. man it was like x-mas for me when i found the original song. it will always be my favourite song of all times, i can listen to it a million times & will never get bored of it.

i think the tai/lao language is 1 of the nicest sounding language in the world. nice to listen to. real easy on the ears.

Here some classic Morlum songs from a guy from Buriram in Esarn. He is Khmer. He always sings about Khmer and Lao people LOL. Most Lao people know these songs because they're classics. I think they came out late 80's early 90's.

yer man luv those khmer surin songs. it's real folk music, keep it country. they sing about every day life like farming, fishing & love. and there are some funny as songs as well & they make it sound good with that essan style. these songs are sung from the heart by real every day folks. essan not a rich region. but folks over there still have fun with their music & they sing about every day life.

one of my favourite khmer surin song, song title is. "see girl wearing shirt & i can't see her breast" biggthumpup.gif haha
