In order to have a successful and fulfilling life both parties must have at least some of these characteristics. These characteristics do not define average people. They define characteristics in people that I would most likely be friends with.

Happiness. An individual must be happy with their lot or know how to make themselves happy as an individual before they can influence happiness on other people.

Independence. An individual must be strong and independent before otherwise they become a problem. It is good to be able to depend on other people, however, one should be able to depend on oneself first.

Educated. I cannot emphasize enough all the decisions that people make which I group into the stupidity category. People who are not educated tend to make naive decisions, take much longer to understand the situations they are in, have difficulty seeing farther into the future (goals etc), see and have less opportunities, well.. the list goes on. So an individual must be educated.

These characteristics affect many other characteristics.

Work, if an individual is all of these they will find better work, work hard, are more amiable so they tend to be promoted faster and to better positions, they will also tend to be better paid. Employers look for people who show independence and leadership, educated and make good decisions, and happy people get further in life in general.

The home will also be a better place when people have these characteristics.

People with these traits tend to attract other people with these traits (as well as other people :P). They will find other individuals who will potentially be successful. Their love lives will always be deep and meaningful.

(I can't respond to the Back in Laos comment, because I don't understand what you mean).

School for sure, educated people tend to be more educated.

Kids of these individuals are happier kids and go further in life also.
