i see Asians around but usually they are tourists , students just staying for a while. Other than that , the only reason i see Asian Americans is because there is a University here and it's close to LA. and i've heard there's s significant numbers of Asians in Los Angeles. So they come here(to my city) to study if they didn't go to Ucla or other colleges.

There was a news article in Yahoo that said that by the year 2042 or smething, Asians will reach 9 percent.

That's really low compared to the predicted 30 percent for hispanics,.. if you live in a city with no colleges or Universities , Can you then live without ever meeting any Asian Americans or crossing paths with them ?

Hispanic population is predicted to reach 40% by 2050.

doubt it. are they factoring in that most first gens are heading back? nobody wants to come to America anymore besides some peasants.
and non-poor asians hardly want to have a ton of children. 2 max

Asians did not come to Los Angeles or other major cities as immigrants because of a university. Perhaps a few, relative to the larger Asian population, are there because they were sent to a UCLA.

Cities like Los Angeles, San Fransco, Seattle are the major economic hubs of their regions. Its the money, not the schools. Dying cities are dying because the economic purpose they serve have become less important. Its hard to have a city built on the steel industry when a landlocked location, enviormental concerns, and the fact that lower technological capable places can make steel cheaper. In those cases why would anyone risk all to move there? And in those cases students become a higher ratio and move towards the majority of the larger Asian or other immigrant populations.

9!? I think the Asian American population has reached its peak. People no longer see the need to move to America.

I think the Asian Canadian population will continuee to grow until all of Sri Lanka lives in Toronto and all of Lebanon lives in Montréal. That'll take another... 5 years.

I dont live in a heavily Asian area (TN) but I see Asians every day (not including my family). I really dont think an American can go a whole life time w/o seeing an Asian, unless they're locked up in their house or something.

we should annex some northern states

just raise school standards so high that the others can't compete

Still unlike other races, the Asian American population is still expected to stay within the urban areas of the USA. Other races have sizable concentrations in rural areas, that's what Asian Americans lack. Until that can happen, you won't see too much of us.

That's fine and dandy, but when alot of the American A/F's would rather date American born Caucasian men, it doesn't help the cause that much.

that's because asian people stop having lots of children.

the only reason why hispanic/chicano people are growing is because ==> the boarder.

Hispanic migration to the US use to account for Hispanic growth in the US but not really anymore. Today its mostly internal.

QUOTE
Births, not immigration, now account for most of the growth in the nation's Hispanic population, a distinct reversal of trends of the past 30 years.

Dude, you're so fu-king stupid. The reason for the huge increase in hispanics compared to us Asians is because Mexico is connected to the south of the US. So mexicans and other hispanic people, like salvadorans, guatemalans, and S Americans can sneak across the US-mexico border anytime and escape to a town or city in the US where their relatives live. Then they get to live in hiding because many big cities, like your $hitty city of L.A., caters to mexicans by having a $hitload of hispanics work at mcdonalds or subway and not know jack $hit English.

And for us Asians? We have to travel over the Pacific Ocean by plane. And there is a smaller, very very small, chance of illegal Asian immigrants invading the US. It's because, like I said, us Asians get here by boat or plane. Hence the smaller number of Asian growth in the coming years.

Plus you know what amigo? Hispanics reproduce like crazy! No offense, but I see mamasita carlota walking down the street with her baby carriage filled with four or six babies. Carlota lives with Pablo in a small studio apartment with the four to six children all crying and screaming.

So there's your answer. Hispanics reproduce more than us Asians. Hence the future predicted "30%" quota for hispanics, and only 9% for us Asians. Because we spend more time in school, working hard in our small businesses, etc. Not sitting at home making more babies and living off of welfare checks.
