Should donate them to Africa as the IOC suggested. They deserve world's attention more than India, and the action would also improve China's image.

ROFL! India is a disgrace to Asian race. One billion people, and they could come up with 1 gold medal! I suggest we give it to Africa, especially Jamaica. They showed much more potential there.

Chinese have a very low self esteem, Olympics have given their fragile self esteem a big boost. They forgot that China is still a developing country with large number of poor people. Getting arrogant on others is a sign of low self esteem.

The 1 Gold medal India has won by beating 2004 Athens gold medalist from China. So yes India is better than China in that event.

100 medals and 51 golds are nothin to sneeze at. IMO, it will never be achieved by another asian country.
saying one have low esteem cause of that is very subjective perosnal opinion. It can't be quantified.
economically, it will take India 20 to 30 yrs to catch up to current Chinese level. 2007, gdp of india is 1 trillion, china 3.3 trillion. 3x times. assuming India grows at 8% per yr.

Hmm...personally I think it will be a good idea to donate some equipment, but are u sure India asked for it..? Did u read from some news articles..?
That seems a little odd.
But in any case, anything that can build a bridge and promote more friendship, China should do.

2008 China: 4.4 trillion+ ?
2007 China: 3.7 trillion
2006 China: 2.8 trillion
this year should be 4x times that of india
real growth:12%
by yuan:growth 22%
by us dollar:growth 30%
and 2009 China:5.7 tillion
2010 China:7trillion
by then should be 5x times that of india

Btw to answer your question about why China is making a big stink out of Olympics ? Because it is hosted in China and most people around the world followed it. It is the single most watched event in human history so far and China won big time while India limp home with medals I can count with one hand.

I respect Indians. I think they're good people, but I don't like how South Asians and East Asians are lumped into the same category. This is something that white people came up with, and it is not all together accurate.
What makes Indians and Chinese the same? Do Indians use chopsticks? Do they use Hanzi? Do they follow Confucianism? Do they drink tea? These things are all pretty fundamental characteristics of East Asians. I can't think of a single thing that would tie Indians with East Asians, aside from Buddhism. Indians don't even look East Asian, as there is no way in hell you would mistake an Indian person for being Chinese.
Again, I respect Indians and I am in no way slandering them. I just want to point out that lumping South Asians and East Asians in the same group is innacurate and largely a creation of the white man.

Well Indians and Chinese are lumped together because of geographic location. (they are both located in Asia).
Anyways, the Indian Government have officially declared their nation a South Asian nation and that will differ them from East nation such as China.
They thing they have in common is Buddhism.

Not surprised this thread turned into a poop paintball deathmatch.
If India is requesting that China donate sports equipment (no source, but assume hypothetically anyways), China should indeed do so. It makes for good publicity and is good for PR. This is the first Olympics in which India has won a few medals, and I remember the first medal they won was a gold. Naturally this will inspire more Indians to go for sports (other than cricket, lawls). Donating goes with China's then Peaceful Rise and its charm offensive. Though...I'm wondering if that's actually a good idea logistically.
