khamara
Well; she cambodian alright, she sound like my mother try to rap..."khmish"..ai..yai..yai..I hope I never run into her or listen to her songs embarassedlaugh.gif
salamat
did she make a reference to the notorious BIG???

is rap like huge in cambodia??
BradPittJolie
She had no energy or passion. She was so mechanical and at times it was as though she was reading off a script. Cambodians need to learn how to hype a crowd up by bringing them into the mix so they can feed off 1 another.

Yep, you're right about that, for me it sound so Cambodian, I'm talking about the tone(monotone)I guess that's what make me dislike her/performance

Ther're tryin'...well, first you have to define what"rap" is? Then if it fall into writing poem, short story telling, then it's another form of creative writing.

Don't know. I stopped listening after 15 seconds into the rap. And I hope this kind of rap isn't huge in Cambodia.

I don't like that kind of rapping. Its background and style is heavily influenced by the distasteful rappers here in the US. Although this one I approved http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=JblvvRGy8VU biggthumpup.gif

I'm so embarrassed by these wannabe black hip-hoppers. crazy.gif I will never bump any of their song because it is certainly not my lifestyle and culture. They can live that black life all they want I don't care. But they're not the only asian that think they're black. I've seen other different asians just like them.

I personally knew Lil Shadow and he was my homie. But then he got too hardcore and wanted to live that gang life so much I had to stop hanging around with him or I might get caught up in that stupid gang life with him.

Honestly, Lil Shadow is a smarter man than I am. He can rap, flow freestyle and beatbox. He is also very good at computers and can create his own instrumental beat using computer programs. He can write poems which is why he is good at what he does also and that is making music. His Khmer speaking skill is very good, but I just can't stand being around a person that uses the word 'nigga' so openly (including in his songs) without a care in the world. If my memories is correct, then its almost been a decade since we last spoked with and plus I haven't heard any of his new songs at all (or if he is still making songs then I wouldn't know at least). I hope he is doing well and living the life he really wanted to and that is to go Platinum. I really do wish my old friend well in life. I just hope to this day he is no longer living that hardcore life and living a decent one.

I wonder what the appeal is for these people to act like they are Black. Do they think they are cooler than other Asians?

I just want to get this off my chest but I believe Lil Shadow was originally the one who first made a huge impact on Khmer rap with a few of his songs that included Sra Mouy Keoh and Khut Ta Peh Da Lane. His songs originally dated back to 1999. And thanks to the internet and programs like Napster, Morpheuos and Kazaa, he was able to influenced the Khmer communities worldwide. Even his song Sra Mouy Keoh was being played in clubs and also it got released in Cambodia while I was there. Some or most of you won't agree with me about this but there was no Khmer rap (or few but not well known) that got to his popularity. I'm just saying this based on the early days when I got to see him record some of his songs.
khamara
O K Tmaw if you say so ... embarassedlaugh.gif I think "sra muy keo" and "Saravan" feat.Bebe probably my most fav two, coz of the mix. The girl in that mix(sra muy keo) is that Touch Srey Nich, or Bebe ?

I'm sorry but I don't support any members of the Tiny Rascal Gang. He raps about that TRG crap way too much and plus there were problems back then also between his set. embarassedlaugh.gif
Kdaw_Tmaw
I think its Touch Srey Nich. He looped a sample of the instrumental part from the original song Sra Mouy Keoh and remixed it with his flow. The guy is good at what he does.

If he kept his mind out that TRG mentality maybe people will take him serious about his DJ'in Remixing skills... look at all the rappers who rapped about gang life and such and made records.. I mean how far did they get with it ? Not as far right ? I will admit the mix sounds nice, but knowing me I will never get along with TRG for what they have done in the past.

Well here's a picture of me that my sister took a week ago you probably get the idea of what color I was banging back in the days lol.

That is the main reason why I stopped hanging around him because I did not want to know any of the people he is usually around with. I agree with you that he might of went further if not for his gang songs and affiliation with them. And also, not all TRG get along. I remember back in the days Long Beach TRG wanted to jump all the Pomona Rascal out of TRG because of some personal issue with Pomona refusing to pay homage to "one of their own" in prison who did a home invasion down in San Bernardino and killed most of the resident living in there. They fight over stupid $hit.

Yeah stupid things do occur within gangs... they fight over greed and nonsense and get innocent people caught in the mix itself. I had my own reasons for leaving the set towards my own way... I have not been jumped out yet, but I have kept my distance away from most of them now that I live in Sacramento. As you grow older you just wake out of that mentality and realize what are you actually fighting for ? I had my own cause when I got jumped in and it was to protect the Khmer people who were targeted back in Oakland by the Sah'dike, Kmao, & Yuun gangs. It's a lot different now that it's the 20th century... They don't even know the reason why they even got jumped in the set. I've watched many idiotic fools on youtube representing their gangs online and such... to tell you the truth I laughed at these idiots who show their identities for the world to see which is the dumbest move a gang member would ever do. Well I have nothing else to say about gangs I've already did my part when I was younger and now it's time for me to find a Khmer wife and have beautiful babies of my own with her. embarassedlaugh.gif
Kdaw_Tmaw
Glad to see a brotha getting on with his life. No doubt you will have beautiful babies. Good luck in life. beerchug.gif
khamara
^ Glad to see you guys got your priority straighten out. See, growing up i don't have those problems. I'm one of those kid that alway quiet, sat in the corner of the class, doing my work..I must say I'm doing o.k for a middle age guy laugh.gif As one khmer brother to another I'm proud of you guys !
Kdaw_Tmaw
Even though you're not in a gang you are still an OG, khamara. biggthumpup.gif

Damn, these Khmer girls need to stop rapping and start singing instead. Its much more soothing to my ears. embarassedlaugh.gif
