The man prays on Vietnamese Americans. They'd never go to seminars if a white man held them. They went to Vu's because he's one of them and they trusted him. And he knew that. He knew he could scam them because a lot of Viet aren't exactly rich and they would be willing to try him out because they need the money and would trust him. He saw easy pickins.
