Wait, I'm confused. The Thai interviewer is Khon Muang? Or were you referring to the Lao girl Fueng? I've noticed that Lao girls rarely use "Jao" when speaking on Thai TV, but only on Lao TV. As you know, "Jao" is used as a sign of respect and to soften the end of a phrase. Either Lao stars don't want to show respect to Thai interviewers, or perhaps they just don't feel comfortable saying "Jao" to a non-Lao person. I guess the word "Jao", when showing respect, can only be used between Lao people (and northern Thailand) and no one else deserves it???...I dunno.
I dont know where Bounty got that from, the interviewer didnt say about being kon muang.
Dont know though about Lao girls using less Jao cause i only saw her and Alexandra. But Alexandra did use Jao.
Jao is polite word for girls...well it can be about giving respect as you say. Maybe she didnt use it cause she didnt know how to Warng Tua...may not be something personal like dont like Thailand or something you know.
But then if someone really speak Jao their whole life they will keep saying it. Why not comfortable to say? Its not a disrespecting word.
I guess the word "Jao", when showing respect, can only be used between Lao people (and northern Thailand) and no one else deserves it???...I dunno. Its just a word and you can say it to anyone if you want to use it. You can even say to white ppl even if they dont understand. I mean normally ppl in Lanna dont use Jao when they speak to Thais from other region, also vise versa. But if everyone keep talking in their own tonque, yeah then in polite form ppl will say Jao to them.
Like Thai interviewer said Kha and Fueng might just use Jao.
