pinoy superhero or any pinoy fiction character...

here is my list...

Kapitan Boom

the dynamics of a bumbling superhero

We’ve grown used to the idea that a superhero epitomizes perfection, be it in looks or in acts of derring-do. Having a klutzy alter ego is nothing new but a superhero who’s also a master of disaster?

Powers:

Flight, super shield, sonic boom

LastikMan

Powers
Transfiguration: Lastikman can stretch and distort his body as if it were rubber, allowing him to reshape any body part or even himself into any form and take advantage of the object the body part or he transforms to, i.e. phone, shield, cymbals, glass cutter.
Camouflage: Lastikman can transform into an object to disguise himself. However, the disguise is easily identified by his irremovable black-and-green checkered costume and black string mask.
Mobility: Lastikman can move faster by morphing into any mobile object, i.e. air transportation, land transportation, flying creatures, fan, ball, wings.
Impenetrability: Lastikman's body is virtually immune to gunfire.
Regeneration: Lastikman's body has the natural ability to heal itself through time, especially from high-degree burns & major injuries, such as the punch to his stomach from Elemento.
Lastikman's principal weaknesses are ice and fire. Like any elastic object, he will melt and freeze when subjected to extreme hot and cold temperatures, respectively.

i like varga

VARGA is a benevolent Alien woman with superhuman powers whose Astral self sought out a mortal from the Planet Earth worthy of being its host. Varga's spirit-self found a young girl in the Philippines named Vi.

Vi was startled at first and thought it was a ghost but the Good spirit explained to Vi its purpose and why she had been chosen. Thrilled at the prospect of becoming a superheroine, the young girl agreed. The spirit instructed her to merely yell the name "VARGA!!" and with that, the young girl named Vi disappears in a flash of light and in her place stands VARGA, Earth's newest heroine.

Even though Varga's spirit resides in the transformed girl named Vi, the child's consciousness is the dominant persona of this superhuman woman.

Powers:

Varga posseses the power of flight, speed, strength and other amazing abilities.

Anak Bathala

Synopsis:
In a time long before Islam or Christianity ever touched paradise, traders, nobles, warriors, warlocks, and demigods roam the archipelago. Seeking treasures and powers to unite the warring clans. There are some however who wants to keep the islands in darkness, calling forth demons and the powers of the malefic Gods of old.

"Whosoever rise to the ranks of Bathala shall have the power to unite these lands."

These are good characters. I like them...

<<Word of caution, though: I'm not sure of how the term was used, but a mortal cannot be Bathala. Even ancient natives consider Bathala as the supreme deity, similar to the Hebrew 'Adonai' or English 'God', it is a somewhat sacred name that cannot be conferred upon humans, dead or alive. Just as we can be 'children' of God, one can be 'anak ng/ni Bathala'.
But one cannot be in the rank of God, or Bathala.>>

Mars Ravelo, on the other hand, is just a mere copycat. Darna=Wonder Woman; Captain Barbell=Captain Marvel; Lastikman=Mr. Fantastic, etc. Even Bondying=Baby Huey!

I used to like those said characters when I was a kid, until I realized that Mars Ravelo is an unfortunate, unimaginative hack. There are a thousand Filipino inspirations in a coconut shell, and all he managed was to pilfer American ideas and fooled us into thinking they're all original, all Filipino. And don't tell me the similarities are unintentional, you'd have to have three blind eyes not to see the identical DNA. I don't care if you bash me; just because everyone else praises him and he's dead doesn't mean he deserves my respect.

If you like his works, defend him all you want, but don't you dare put him in league with Larry Alcala, Tony Velasquez, Alfredo Alcala and Nonoy Marcelo, or even Luciano Uyan, Tonton Young and Pol Medina.

On Darna

Similarities and inspirations

Some may point out that Darna is very similar to (or less charitably, is a rip-off of) Western superheroes, particularly Wonder Woman.

Aside from the bullet deflection misconception (perpetrated by the Viva Films movies), Darna's similarity to Wonder Woman is superficial, if anything. Besides the fact that super strength, flight, and super speed are common and hardly unique powers among superheroes, the character has several differences with her purported source material. She has always possessed the power of flight from the very beginning (as Varga in 1947, and as Darna in 1950), while Wonder Woman only gained the power to "glide on the air currents" in the 60's and the real power of flight in the 1987 relaunch of her title after the Crisis on Infinite Earths changed the DC Universe.

She does not require bracelets to deflect bullets with, because they already bounce off her body (like Superman). It seems that only Viva Films' rendition of Darna copies Wonder Woman, because they have her deflect bullets with her bracelets. It should be noted that bullets also don't kill Wonder Woman if hit directly unless the force is stronger than human technology or weaponry. Her bracelets are used for style to demonstrate superhuman reflexes and deflection of any form of projectile, not just bullets, and she's nearly as durable as Superman. Strength levels are also different, as Wonder Woman is many times stronger than Darna, being one of the DC Comics' characters who helped move the earth's moon using brute strength. Also, Darna is not nor has she ever been an "Amazon princess". She is an "Adarna Warrior" from an alien race called Adranika from the Planet Marte (a.k.a. "Nibiru").

Darna's chief inspirations did not include Wonder Woman, but were rather Superman and Captain Marvel, whose comics Ravelo regularly read.

According to confirmed sources, the reason why Mars Ravelo chose to create a female superhero rather than a male one was because Ravelo grew up with an absent father; thus, he never had a father-figure and he considered his mother as his biggest hero growing up. His mother represented Darna, and young Mars Ravelo represented the kid sidekick, Ding.

Captain Barbell

The original version of Captain Barbell depicted him as shirtless because during the more whimsical comics age in the Philippines that occurred in the 1960s, (Silver Age), Mars Ravelo based the good Captain's look on circus strongmen, but with the addition of a mask. Since the original Enteng's look was a really thin guy in a tank top (emphasizing his bony features), it was decided that Captain Barbell's "shirtless circus strongman" look could provide a much more dramatic contrast to his mortal persona. Recent comics depicted him wearing a long-sleeved yellow shirt instead of being shirtless.
