Hi everyone in this Forum!

For school I'm doing a research about youth language and slang and I still need a little bit of help.
I don't have that much information about slang in Japan yet.
Could anyone help me by answering one or more of the following questions?

• Does the language/slang has a special name?
• Do people talk the language in special places, cities or parts or parts of cities?
• When did the language make it’s first appearance?
• Is there a happening or change in society which caused the language to appear?
• Is the media especially important for the development of the language?
• Who speaks the language? (for example people in the city, in the country, at schools etc.)
• Do people who don’t speak the language understand it and respect it?
• Could you say the language replaces the official language?
• What is the goal of using the language?
• Which language(s) is mostly used to creat this language?

Hope someone can help me! icon_wink.gif

From my perspective as a Marine stationed there in late 1970's - early 80's:

1. The language does not have a special name
2. Usually main cities where there are foreign influences, usually American
3. The early 60's with a new 'hip' young Japan.
4. Looking back at the terrible past to embrace a more 'open' Japan
5. The language is just "slang" and not meant to replace anything.
6. They are basically 'Anglicisims' that are frequently used and have become part of the hip culture

^^Can you also give some examples of some slang words, how you think it originated and the normal non-slang words. Thanks in advance! biggthumpup.gif
