I think we should take the largest 10 cities of India and make them special Union Territories- Mumbai, Delhi(already separate), Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Surat, Pune and Kanpur.

This will have the following benefits:

- Make the states focus on developments of smaller cities and towns and rural development as they lose the big cities
- Reduce the kind of jingoism coming from Raj Thackeray in Mumbai as these cities become truly cosmopolitan
- Improve overall economic development as it spreads across a bigger region

Funny thing about Raj Thackeray is that a lot of the Mumbai upper and middle class are Gujaratis. I guess the poor UPites and Biharis are easier targets. In fact most of the Mumbai upper and middle class isn't even Marathi.

I think your ideas are very good and deserve consideration by the Union Govt of India. These big cities were built by people from all over India and therefore, should not be allowed to be played at the hands of some local politicians, who seek dividends out of division.

Well put. You summarized the point very well. You are not so bad after all.
