In what many videogame analysts will classify under "Holy crap! That actually works?!?", a Turkish prisoner has escaped a German prison through the clever use of a box. While gamers have been been following Solid Snake's box-stealth adventures in the Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid series for more than a decade, few have ever thought that hiding in a box would make an effective real-world technique. Oh how wrong we all were. According to BBC News:

"At the end of his shift, the inmate climbed into a cardboard box and was taken out of prison by express courier. His whereabouts are still unknown. The chief warden of the jail told the BBC this was an embarrassing incident. The prison authorities in Willich, near Duesseldorf, said the man, who was tall and broad-shouldered, had hidden in a box that was about 150cm by 120cm. When the weekly express courier arrived to pick up several boxes of merchandise, the one containing the prisoner was also loaded into the back of the lorry."

Hopefully this will not lead to a string of videogame-inspired prison-breaks. Taking cues from Solid Snake is one thing, but a derranged mind could execute a particular nasty escape using classic Mario and Sonic techniques.

It's not exactly like Metal Gear, unless he was sneaking through rooms and guards with the box on.

Well, in MGS you can hide in a special box and get the guards to transport you to places.

i think it would be pretty obvious that a person was in a box because of the unequal weight distribution
