I think it was a very good album given that Kanye drastically stepped out of comfort zone. Though, I know people hate the auto-tune it really didn't annoy me in this. What matters is, the album is the epitomy of what heartbreak is.

I'm glad Kanye is showing his singing side on this album for once.

Apparently the 808s and Heartbreak won't be going away any time soon, as Kanye has revealed that he will be sticking with his new style according to this recent article:

Kanye West is turning his back on the genre that made him famous - because hip-hop is becoming too much of a “cliche” for the star…West claims his new music has created a new genre, labeling it “pop art”, and is adamant that he will not go back to his previous style because he wants to cement his place in musical history.

He says, “This is not hip-hop music. Taking a sample, looping it and doing all that ‘throw your hands up in the sky’ thing has become such a cliche. Hip-hop is over for me. I sing, not rap, on this album. I now want to be grouped among those musicians you see in those old black-and-white photos - the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles. And I’m not going to get there by doing just another rap album full of samples.

“I’ve had to create a whole new musical genre to describe what I’m doing now and I’m calling it ‘pop-art’ - which is not to be confused with the visual art movement.”

fu-k Kanye, Cobert FTW

The album wasn't bad though a lot of people disagree. I feel really close to that Pinocchio Story song =p

kanye is out of his goddamn mind. other than heartlesss the album is trash. stick to rhyming and making beats.

I really enjoyed Heartless, a very broody and surreal soundscape and I feel the auto-tune works on it. But a whole album of it.. eeeek!!

Amazing is decent too, but I just find it hard getting into the rest of it.

This is a review from my site.. and it is incredibly harsh >> http://www.planeturban.com.au/album_review..._and_heartbreak

You realize this is pretty much an emotional album. His mother died last year and his fiancee broke up with him, all of these events made him so sappy. Thus the sappy nature of the 808's and Heartbreak album.

i think its great how rappers are starting to sing now

What's wrong with 808s?

I had no idea that his fiance broke up with him. Now i see where he comes from. It still sounds like garbage though. Only 2 songs that i like on there. T-pain is getting old with his sound too.

No more of his hardcore rapping, like in his first 3 albums.

The only song I really like and get spins is Paranoid. Otherwise the Love Lockdown and Heartless gets played for about 30 seconds before getting cut up. Autotune should have never made it into the formula of rapping, its fine for hooks I guess. But Roger Troutman and Cher were the only ones that could really fu-ks wit it. Jay-Z even poked at T-Pain for the goofy voice.
