In the overall mayhem caused by the Pakistani terrorists in Mumbai, two small yet significant developments were washed away.
1. For the first time, India refused to negotiate with terrorists. Historically India has always tried to negotiate and save lives e.g. the Indian Airlines hijacking which freed JeM leader Maulana Azhar who now lives like a normal citizen in Pakistan (look at the irony of that pitiful country). This time they refused to negotiate and attacked the terrorists. This seems to have surprised the terrorists who had come for a siege and negotiation (as mentioned by lone surviving Pakistani terrorist). This is a big change in Indian stance and the right one.
2. By involving the jewish center, Nariman House, the Pakistani terrorists have inadvertently brought in Israel into the Pak equation. Israel has traditionally focused on middle eastern threats and hasn't really considered Pak terrorists as a big threat. Now they do. This might lead to greater engagement by Israel in attempting to head off Pak terrorists and might lead to them offering top of the line counter-terrorism expertise to India. Despite growing defense ties, this is one area where India and Israel have not engaged, primarily due to India's concerns about Indian muslim sensitivities. But now there is no reason to worry about overt cooperation anymore.
