Ok I must say I've just had the best hair cut ever. Unfortunately I had to go to Beijing to get it but it was worth it just for the head massage from the cute fujian girl (I declined the back rub though- damn)

What I wanna know is, does anyone else have trouble finding someone outside of asia who knows how to cut asian hair? Mostly I seem to end up with a totally FOBy looking cut or just a so so one.

Is our hair really that difficult to cut?

Ok I will restate my question.
I live in the UK and find it hard to find a non-asian barber who can cut asian hair.
Does anyone else have this problem where they live?

when i was younger i had probelms finding a stylist that knew asian hair and how to cut/style it. after figuring out my own personal style and tastes it was easier to find a hairstylist that was able to work with my needs/wants. my present stylist of over 5 years now just so happens to be a white dude. i got my hair cut/colored by an asian gal in chinatown a few years ago and she did a completely horrid job. not to say that all asian females make bad hairstylists, it's just this particular gal didn't know that mullets weren't in style anymore

I just go to my friend for a haircut since I find it more comfortable telling her what I want. I don't like going to Korean salons because they don't cut the hair the way you want it.

there's just an asian plaza by where i live and there's a haircut place... and that's where i go. come to think of it... i've never had anyone other than asian people cut my hair before.

whenever meh and mah boifren need a hair cut or something like that we'd go to his fren's shop...its so much easier to talk to her and tell her what we want instead of going to some other place where they can barely understand you..

I usually just have it short at the sides. not shaved tho... about 1cm long. And about 1.5-2 incheson top.

grr... i can't explain what i want... haha... whenever i go to this cantonese guy to cut my hair (it only costs $6 cdn to go there, so we ALWAYS go.. ) i can never explain what i waint, so he jsut gives me the fu-king mushroom cut... jeez...

what i really want is short at the sides (maybe 1cm), and 3cm at the top... i got a pretty good cut a few days ago, we went to a singaporean woman. (i think she was singaporean, she looks like a filipino but one day i heard her speak chinese then another she was speaking like tamil... haha... my dad told me her canto was near perfect...)

my hair is so coarse... it's hard for me to style... ugh.. i'd get pomade or sometihng (HAHA) but my mom said i'll become bald before i'm 30 if i use it...

Lifelong home hair cut kid right here. I used to wear my hair in a bottom-flipped shoulder length thing sorta like Rachel from 'Friends', but then it got annoying so I had to pin it back. My mom cuts my hair, everybody else in the family goes to these Uzbek guys who charge $5.
