alienware is soo expensive...even for a low end gaming system..

you can easily save $300-$500 if you build yourself or just order the right motherboard and cpu, and the rest is not that hard to install.

i wouldn't recommend any mainstream computer (dell, HP) for gaming. they are not meant for gaming but daily tasking. you have to be more specific in what you want to use your computer for so people can give better suggestion.

laptop aren't meant for gaming either although those gaming laptop is fully capable of.

if you're just a daily tasking computer user, get a mainstream laptop(any xps series from dell will do).

Alienware is seriously behind on technology. Two months ago when I visited their site and did a build, the best they could offer me was a 667FSB processor from their mobile line when 1066FSB or faster mobile processors were already available. All that for over $4000. nvm them.

go to site i told you...centrino gaming notebook... there are a few good gaming under 1k...

anyway, if you're gamer for now and future, make sure you upgrade the video card to at least ndivia geforce 9800gt or gtx or ATI hd4850...anything below those series, you will regret later..it's because it's not worth getting any series below those video card. it's weak and not much improvement over previous version..those are the best video card and good for gaming...but if you have the money, go for the x200 series. note: upgrading video card on laptop can be tricky and difficult, so it's worth upgrading to whatever you can afford.

It's better to get the second best in terms of technology. You'll save more and you'll still get something good. Technology always gets better anyways.

But speaking of computer technology, I'd wait for this:
