Here's the problem. I've made a video of things I've did this weekend. After publishing it, I uploaded it to youtube. The problem is that it didn't turn out the way I liked, so I deleted it from youtube and made some changes to the file, then published it again under a different name. However, there was an error when trying to play it in wmp (my first video worked). Windows Media Player could not open the file. So I decided to call it a night because it was getting late. The next day whenever I tried to publish another file, it would crash, leaving me a message reading "windows movie maker has stopped working". After that the program closes. What I want to know is how to resolve this problem, and be able to play my wmv files on wmp. That way I can know if they'll be able to work on youtube.

Sorry, noob at movie maker here. icon_neutral.gif

check if the file is corrupted. some player can crash if it cant read the file properly. try using vlc or anything that can play wmv.

also try opening a good working wmv file on media player. see how it goes, from there you can decide what to do next.

VLC can't open the file either.

It seems to be able to play other wmv/mp3 files without any problems.

in that case the file is corrupted, you will need to re do it.

So you're saying I need to start another movie maker project?

yeah just start fresh again and see how its goes. file do get corrupted when apps crashed while its open, thats what probably happened there.

I noticed that when I started a new file, it didn't play/publish with the song (.mp3 file) included, but when I took it out it played just fine and I was able to publish it and upload the file to youtube. I think I might need to update my sound driver.

I might just upload each clip individually.

The problem is that, one of the cut files you have in your time line has errored, and will need to be replaced, it could be a little 10 second clip. You need to find which one it is and make sure every thing is okay.

window media maker won't accept wma or mp3 in mixing video.

convert to wav format.

I'm not sure about .wav (I believe not also), but MP3 is allowed. I do it all the time.
