No, I think they did the right thing. I don't like the word Kampuchea because if you break the word into syllable it gives a negative meaning. Kam=suffering puchea=khmer the people. And when it adds up, it means the Suffering Khmers. Khmers have enough suffering and devatating lost, we do not need this word to label us that way. So with that, hail Cambodia

i say yoiu are the new generation guy. perhap borned here in the state, right.
everybody know that if you translated the kapuchea, it go like that. well, kam-yes, i should say is suffering, pu is khmer and chea is no longer suffering. it go like this before, after and the end. you got hurt in an automobile accident you suffered-kam. when you go to the ER that is after -pu-khmer (YOU). the doctor treaded you , you feel beter , you no longer suffering this is the end, right , so you chear . that is not bad at all being call kampuchea. you are here in the state. you got used to it calling it like the westerner. but it is not fully recognize in kampuchea. not to many khmers are like being call cambodia. when i hear kampuchea that mean all khmers, the bottom, center and top parts. you can call khmers what ever you want. it you choice my friend. it a free world.
but if you call chineses khmre- cambodia or vietnamesekhmer- cambodia , they love you probably too much. bye
