Definately worth seeing. Good movie, but my only complaint was the child actors...they sucked.

Agreed. That pretty much sums up Gran Torino in a nut shell.

watched it last night. it was good. the Asian boy being called a pussy pretty much sums up the accuracy.
Overall, I think the gang bangers were a lot better at acting then the kid. I don't think he really has the chance in acting. You can tell just by the way he talks that it doesn't matter how many takes you have to do with him, that's just how he talks but then again, his bad acting made his character seem pretty genuine.

The movie is funny as $hit LOL. He brings out all the slurs, that had me laughing.

And yea, Clint nailed his roll. The others..they sucked lol. Sall good, nice movie overall.

I only watched the whole movie because they had some Hmong people in there. The Hmong stuff were pretty cool but not everything was accurate.

You went with too high of an expectation, obviously.

I think saw the preview of that movie in the theater. I wouldn't pay a dollar to watch it. It's full of cliche crap and it's just another "stupid + hollywood + asian" movie.

I'm kinda surprised some of you guys liked it. There was several racist terms for Asians in it. I thought it was an ok movie. The ending pissed me off. =P

some of them I've never heard of like zipper heads and jungle people. Usually when I think of jungle people, I think of blacks.
White people are so creative when they try to be racist.

not so sure i wanna watch this movie.. frm cnn's review, it sounds like another white man saves poor asians type-of-movie... tho they did say clint eastwood's angry isolated character gets redeemed by his frenship w the charming asian family. what is this? west versus eastern values??

If Clint made this movie about black gangs terrorizing the neighborhood and he called them the "n" word and all that...the outcome of his movie towards the media and press would be a TOTAL different outcome, and youll definitely hear jesse jackson and al sharpton on the the tv. Instead, Clint went the easy route..and decided the so called "hoodlum hmongs" should be the storyline...



overall...i still want to see it...even if it just one time..

In the end, the part where _______ was driving the _________ was fu-ked up for some reason. Felt like there was something missing.. maybe they should've added a scene where ________ hooked up with that hmong girl. I didn't like the ending at all.

you should see it. Asians should support a movie where Asians say more then 3 things and can speak with conjunctions in their sentences.

saw this movie recently. i was expecting it to suck cuz everyone kept sayin the acting was so bad but after watching the movie at a theater, i thought it was well worth my 10 bucks. the movie works on many levels and says a lot about america, most of'em true. even though the acting from Bee was not polished, the movie still wordks. i personally think it brings the movie down to earth and makes it even more accessable because Clint chose to use real people instead of actors. sure, clint had a choice of hiring a professional actors for the hmong, maybe even that korean dude form harold/kumar but it would've totally changed the vibe of this movie. i give Clint props for going with authenticity.

*SPOILER ALERT*
the movie has some subtle layers and messages. in a way, i thought the gran torino represented the america of old, his most prized posession. in the end, clint chose to give his gran torino to thao (moral, hard working individuals). maybe what clint is saying is that it is the end of white america as the majority. the american landscape is changing, whether white america likes it or not. so instead of fighting to hang on to it, he chose to give it to individuals who would take care of it.

they threw around too many slurs.... $hit was fu-ked up. now people are gonna think its ok to throw around chin.k or g.ook and think its acceptable.

it's not really what you say babyshank, it's what you mean. maybe that's another thing the movie is trying to point out. as americans, we're all slurs, from one ethnic group or another. no one is immune from prejudice.

i have friends to see it with, but i like watching deep movies alone so i don't get interrupted

and plus its more comfy at home

You can never make fun of black people regarding their race but it's alright with Asians and other minorities because like I said before, the blacks are everybody's favourite minority
