but its so fu-king typical, the movie.
the asian men are all portrayed as warriors who oppress women.
and the american is the sensitive, kind man who treats women with respect and is great with the kids.
and in the end, all the asian men die in bloody battle and the american man gets the asian girl.
God...why I bother I don't know..
Read up..just read.><

Back then Japanese men didn't act like Tom Cruse's character.
Yes, they were respectful towards women, but again they never truely showed it.
Like how some Asian fathers don't show emotion to their sons untill something truely pushes them too.
The men protected the village, fought for their family and village , etc.
The women cooked, farmed, took care of the kids, cleaned, etc.
This is how it was back then.
Back then the Fathers(who were samurai) would train their children at young ages to become a samurai as well.
Note: When the two kids were doing 'kendo'.
Young, and yet training like their fathers.

Yes, they all die at the end because THAT'S WHAT HAPPEND IN HISTORY.
The final showdown.
Read up.
Every samurai was killed in that bloody battle.
It was eaither die by the enemy or by their own hands.
They couldn't face defeat thus-Seppuku.

hmm, i just thought of something that might be wrong, but w/e. since the movie is titled "the last samurai" and the word samurai is both singular and plural, would the movie titled really mean that it is the last group of samurai, all whom are trying to keep the samurai tradition? wild guess but whatever
Exactly man.
You got it.*nod*
"The Last Samurai" means the final battle of Samurai who died in a bloody battle to try and keep the old ways.
