I know, it's cool that Aeta kids are entering pageants and contests now and some are actually winning. Like Juliet Chavez:

The native Aeta is the most discriminated of all the Filipinos. Some say its their fault for not asserting themselves when it comes to opportunities but mostly it's because generations of Filipinos have an image of Aetas as society's outcasts and treat them as such. All one has to do is tune in to any Philippine tv program which shows the roles that portray Aetas as submissive door mats that get shouted at or casted off as animals. Blame it on the media for not promoting any positive role models and flooding the airwaves with black faced makeup wearing actors instead of genuine Aetas who can genuinely portray their people.

I've never seen an Aeta in my life. I've read about them in History books, but I would like to see one in real life. The natives we have in Davao are Mandaya and Mansaka. They look a little bit different but they are not Autraloid-like.

During the Mount Pinatubo eruption, there was an exodus of Aetas in Metro Manila by the thousands and everywhere I look there are Aetas everywhere. The government provided the Aetas with temporary settlement and I think they already went back to their homeland and some of them settled in Metro Manila.

There is a Negrito tribe in Mindanao called the Mamanwas.

Thousands of Aetas? You must be kidding.

It's true and it was like I entered in another timezone and the Aetas were living in carton box houses in the sidewalks of Metro Manila.
